ย Context ย Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programmes of Brazil the incumbent will coordinate the Assisted Voluntary Return and Coordination projects in Brazil. Project development and implementation, as well as migrant assistance, are included among the responsibilities of this position as well, in close coordination with the Country Office in Brasilia and the Head of Programmes.ย

โข ย ย ย ย Coordinate and manage AVRR projects in Brazil, including case management, stakeholder coordination and liaison with other IOM missions
โข ย ย ย ย Supervision of AVRR assistants and interns
โข ย ย ย ย Project development, implementation, monitoring and reporting
โข ย ย ย ย Provide timely, periodical reports (Interim and Final) to the Head of Programmes and/or the donors concerning the activities of the projects
โข ย ย ย ย Closely and regularly monitor the implementation of project activities as per project plan and budget ensuring they fulfil the goals and objectives of the program.
โข ย ย ย ย Undertake administrative requirements for executing the various activities โ financial documents, soliciting quotes for procurement, preparing presentations and tracking expenditures. ย ย ย ย
โข ย ย ย ย Provide timely updates on program issues, including regular risk analysis and recommendations for operational improvements, to the COM / IOM management, as well as regular, timely reporting and presentations for donors. Provide any other supplementary written materials (as required).
โข ย ย ย ย Conduct field visits (when necessary) to verify project progress and results, and coordinate with implementing partners, and government focal points to drive for results.
โข ย ย ย ย Undertake other duties as assigned by the Chief of Mission and Head of Programmes.

Education
- High school diploma with a minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience, or
- University degree in social sciences, political sciences, psychology law, public policy, health or a related field from an accredited academic institution with a minimum of four (4) years of experience. ; Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience;
- Knowledge of budgeting would be an asset;ย
- Experience working in the areas of migration, voluntary return and reintegration, humanitarian response, project development and implementation, and/or public policy;
- Excellent ability in writing and drafting of reports;
- Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills;
- Ability to work under tight timelines;
Experience in liaison with national, regional and international bodies would be an asset
Skills- Knowledge of Brazil, including socioeconomic and political context is an advantage.
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization.
- Excellent communication and writing skills with the ability to analyses complex problems and identify and convey clear, rapid solutions.
