ย Context Under the overall supervision of the Protection Officer and direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate (HRR/Protection/MHPSS) and in coordination with the relevant technical specialist in Ndjamena, in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centres, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the implementation of IOMโs protection activities in the province of their respective duty station (Ouaddaรฏ, Sila, or Wadi Fira) including community-based protection, individual protection assistance, and capacity building.ย
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including organising and taking part in regular field activities such as assessing protection needs, coordinating with affected communities and partners for activities and sensitization, and delivering protection assistanceย
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest remedial actions.
- Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.ย
- Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records; organize meetings, workshops and training sessions;ย
- Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities withย local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.ย
- Assist in monitoring work of implementing partners and report non-compliances to the supervisor.
- Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff.ย
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education- School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelorโs degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.ย Skills
- In-depth knowledge of methods of community-based protection in emergency and post-emergency settings, including community mobilization, sensitization, and social cohesion.
- In-depth knowledge of methods of individual protection assistance in emergencies including the identification, referrals, delivery of support, including confidentiality, gender and age sensitivity, and do no harm principles.
- Coordination skills with field partners and local authorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proactivity and adaptability.

- Fluency in French (oral and written) and Chadian Arabic (oral).
