ย Context
Under the overall supervision of theย Senior Programme Specialist for Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion in Lebanonย and direct supervision of theย Programme Officer,ย the Project Assistant will be responsible for assisting the implementation of activities under theย Abeona Programme for complementary labour pathways in Lebanon.
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.ย
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.ย ย
- Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.ย
- Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.ย
- Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.ย
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Education
- School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelorโs degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.ย Skills
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; ย
- Proven ability to work with Government counterparts, international organizations, private sector entities, civil society and beneficiaries;ย
- Knowledge of labour mobility management, particularly complementary labour pathways for refugees;
- Strong conceptualization, analytical and writing skills;ย
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal relationship skills;ย
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimum supervision; and,ย
- Ability to maintain partnerships with development partners, government counterparts, UN agencies, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.
LanguagesFor this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written).
