ย ContextUnder the overall supervision of the Programme Manager โ Immigration Border Governance (IBG) and the direct supervision of the Project Area Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for providing cultural mediation assistance to the Italian Ministry of Interior โ Public Security Department in different emergency operations for the fast and precise application of first-entry procedures in the framework of the MED.E.A. project.ย The selected candidates will be deployed in one of the following duty stations: Verbano, Trento, Udine, La Spezia, Prato, Brindisi.

Bachelorโs Degree or equivalent from an accredited academic institution with 1 year or relevant working experience.Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.ย Experience Previous experience in the framework of migrantsโ assistance and cultural mediation is a distinctive advantage.Previous experience with international organizations, EU Agencies and/or Italian Border Police or Police Immigration Offices is an advantage.Previous experience with the IOM Italy Immigration and Border Governance team is a distinctive advantage.ย Skills Knowledge of the procedures related to the asylum application, including the so-called C3 templated used to file asylum-seekers claims.ย Knowledge of the work of the Immigration Office, in particular the International Protection Section (IV section).Psychological understanding in interpersonal communication and sensitiveness in addressing the asylum-seekersโ claims.Capacity to prevent and mitigate conflicts between the beneficiaries/asylum-seekers and the police officers.Languages Fluency in Italian is required (oral and written).Fluency in at least one of the following languages is required: Bengali, Hindi, Urdu.IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.ย Required Competenciesย IOMโs competency framework can be found at this link.
