Mission and objectivesFAO Armenia assists the Government in formulating policies, programmes and projects to address the root causes of food insecurity and malnutrition, develop the agricultural and forestry sectors, and utilize environmental and natural resources in a sustainable way. It contributes to the development of FAOโs field programme projects in the country and implements them in the sectors of food security, agriculture, natural resources management and rural development.
ContextThe Programme Associate (One Health) will focus on the areas in the intersection of human, and anima health, with a particular emphasis on zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), peste des petits ruminants (PPR) and food safety. The Programme Associate will collaborate with national and international experts to enhance laboratory capacities, promote responsible antibiotic use, and improve animal health systems. He/she will work closely with partners at central and rural levels to provide technical support and contribute to the implementation of One Health initiatives in Armenia.
Task DescriptionWithin the delegated authority and under the supervision of National Programme Manager or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will: โข Provide technical support for implementation of One Health initiatives. โข Draft and prepare reports and technical papers summarizing project results and analyzing data sets and technical assessment findings. โข Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations. โข Conduct research and analysis to support One Health activities. โข Participate in training and capacity-building efforts. โข Provide administrative support to the One Health projects: scheduling meetings and making travel arrangements, assisting in organizing events, supporting procurement actions, developing presentations, coordinating participants, etc. โข Perform other duties as required.

Living conditions and remarksAs of February 2025, national UN Volunteer Specialists in Armenia receive approx. AMD 389,370/month as a Volunteer Living Allowance. Other benefits include: 1. Pre-assignment -Entry lump sum - USD 400 (one-time payment) -Relocation costs โ USD 200 at beginning and end of assignment if duty station is outside of commuting distance (as determined by UNV) 2. During assignment -Volunteer living allowance - AMD 389370.08/month (as mentioned above) -Learning - Access to UNV's learning and career development resources -Annual leave - 2.5 days per month -Insurance - Comprehensive coverage for health, life and malicious acts for the UN Volunteer and health insurance coverage for up to 3 eligible dependents. End of assignment -Exit allowance (paid on successful completion of the assignment) - AMD 32447.51 (for each month served, paid on completion of contract).
