Your responsibilities
ATLAS is one of the world's largest scientific collaborations, bringing together thousands of people to explore the frontiers of physics. Supporting such a large collaboration requires careful management of ATLAS collaboration information and several of its workflows, including members' appointments, employment records, publications, speaker nominations, authors' lists, and institute contributions.
The Glance system provides user-friendly access to multiple databases, making it easy to retrieve, insert, and update data independently of technology or modelling. It powers several key tools, including Membership, Appointments, Speakers, Analysis Follow-Up, and Conference Notes, all of which continue to evolve to meet the collaboration's needs.
In this role, you will work at the heart of ATLAS operations, connecting developers, management, and users to deliver reliable, high-impact tools that support the collaboration worldwide.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate Glance activities, serving as a bridge between developers, users, and ATLAS management.Set priorities, define requirements with management, and contribute to the design and implementation of solutions.Ensure high-quality, reliable tools using modern development and integration practices.Support and mentor new team members, helping them integrate smoothly.Collaborate with colleagues from other LHC experiments who also use the Glance system.
Your profile
Skills:
Good knowledge of web technologies, including PHP, JavaScript (Vue.js), HTML and CSS;Proficient in relational databases and SQL (Oracle) queries;Experienced in managing software product lifecycles using GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, Docker containers, and Puppet-based deployment infrastructure;Proven ability to support and mentor developers, as well as facilitate the onboarding of new team members;Skilled in product ownership, backlog management, and leading cross-functional Agile teams;Ability to act as main interface between developers and stakeholders to ensure adequacy and clarity on software requirements and prioritise developments;Understanding of mode of operation of large international collaborations;Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.Eligibility criteria:
You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Computer Science, IT (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.Additional Information
