About WorldFish

โ€œWorldFish is a leading international research organization working to transform aquatic food systems to reduce hunger, malnutrition, and poverty. It collaborates with international, regional, and national partners to co-develop and deliver scientific innovations, evidence for policy, and knowledge to enable equitable and inclusive impact for millions who depend on fish for their livelihoods. As a member of CGIAR, WorldFish contributes to building a food- and nutrition-secure future and restoring natural resources. Headquartered in Penang, Malaysia, with country offices across Africa, Asia, and the Pacific, WorldFish strives to create resilient and inclusive food systems for shared prosperity. About the Position

Small-scale fishers and fish farmers are increasingly impacted by a changing climate. Effective climate adaptation requires investments that are grounded in robust, context-specific evidence on climate impacts, local priorities and vulnerabilities, and the effectiveness of different climate actions.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work closely with scientists at WorldFish and University of British Columbia (UBC) as well as other international partners to bring together climate observations, model projections, and survey data on fisheries and aquaculture to inform the design, funding, and implementation of climate adaptation interventions. The Fellow will produce aquatic food climate profiles for key WorldFish countries and contribute towards development of a climate adaptation decision-support tool that draws on the decades of WorldFish and UBC experience in climate data, climate information services, locally led approaches, and adaptation innovations.

This research will contribute to the CGIAR Research Portfolio 2025-2030, as well ongoing WorldFish projects in Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and the Pacific.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with project partners, stakeholders, and local communities to ensure the relevance and impact of research activities and outputs. Contribute to the design, validation, and implementation of frameworks and decision-support tools for climate adaptation in aquatic food systems. Support with the integration of climate-related data into CGIAR and WorldFish databases and data systems. Contribute to project planning, reporting, and communication activities, including writing project proposals, progress reports, and scientific publications. Mentor and supervise research assistants, students, and interns involved in related research activities.
