Mission and objectivesUNICEF is a leading humanitarian and development agency working globally for the rights of every child. Child rights begin with safe shelter, nutrition, protection from disaster and conflict and traverse the life cycle: pre-natal care for healthy births, clean water and sanitation, health care and education. UNICEF has spent nearly 70 years working to improve the lives of children and their families. Working with and for children through adolescence and into adulthood requires a global presence whose goal is to produce results and monitor their effects. UNICEF also lobbies and partners with leaders, thinkers and policy makers to help all children realize their rightsโespecially the most disadvantaged.

Living conditions and remarksKadugli, the capital of South Kordofan State, is located in the Southern part of the state approximately 1,500 km southwest of Port Sudan (around 15 hours by road), about 700 km southwest of Khartoum and about 300 km south of El Obeid. The security situation in Kadugli remains volatile due to ongoing clashes in the country between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), rebel groups (SPLM-N), and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), alongside sporadic tribal conflicts. Like many Sudanese cities, Kadugli experiences instability, though its proximity to conflict zones in South Kordofan makes it vulnerable to escalations in violence. The town is inaccessible by road due to insecurity, and there are limited air travel options. Kadugli experiences a hot semi-arid climate, with high temperatures during the dry season and a rainy season from June to September, which can lead to flooding and road blockages. The cost of living is relatively low compared to larger cities like Port Sudan, but prices fluctuate due to supply chain disruptions caused by insecurity and road blockage. Accommodation options are basic, mainly rental houses, with rents generally affordable. Healthcare services are limited, with local hospitals and clinics providing primary care, though specialized treatment often requires travel to larger cities. A few local banks operate, offering basic financial services. Mobile network coverage is unavailable, with availability of commercial StarLink devices to connect to the internet.
