This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days per month in the office. You can be based in our office in Addis Ababa. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position.
About the Program:
Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) is a global program of the World Resources Institute (WRI) that helps early-stage climate startups in emerging markets become investment ready. P4G works through National Platforms (NPs), public-private coalitions within member countries to improve enabling environments for climate solutions. The program supports startups working on climate mitigation and adaptation with strong poverty reduction and gender equity outcomes in climate-smart agriculture, clean energy, and water resilience. P4Gโs model combines grant funding, technical assistance, and strategic policy engagement to overcome market barriers and scale innovative business models. In Ethiopia, P4G collaborates closely with the NP, WRI staff, and other ecosystem actors to align startup support with national climate and development goals.
Job Highlight:
Reporting to Regional Investment Manager, Africa - P4G, you will serve as the primary liaison between the Ethiopia National Platform and the P4G Global Hub, coordinating the platformโs involvement in supporting climate partnerships and advancing enabling environment reforms. You will manage stakeholder engagement, oversee partnership activities in Ethiopia, and contribute to policy and strategy processes.
You will be supported by the P4G Africa regional team, which provides strategic guidance on partnerships, policy engagement, and program delivery. You will also work with the P4G Global Hub and WRI Ethiopia staff and leadership to ensure strong alignment with national priorities and institutional coordination. You will integrate equity into your work.
This position involves regular in-country travel and occasional international travel as needed.
What you will do:
National Platform Engagement and Strategy (30%):
- Facilitate regular meetings with NP co-chairs and focal points to ensure strategic alignment
- Develop and track implementation of the NP Implementation Plan; conduct annual NP assessments
- Support Ethiopia-specific inputs to P4Gโs global strategy and roadmap
Startup Partnership Management and Acceleration (30%):
- Oversee engagement with P4G-supported startups, including field visits and regular check-ins
- Organize acceleration activities and policy learning events with ministries and partners
- Coordinate documentation of enabling environment contributions in partnership closeouts
Policy Engagement and Ecosystem Strengthening (25%):
- Engage with public and private stakeholders to identify and address market barriers
- Represent P4G in sectoral dialogues and multi-stakeholder forums
- Facilitate planning and stakeholder engagement for P4G missions and summits
Knowledge Management and Reporting (15%):
- Draft and distribute bi-annual Partnership Update Reports
- Prepare mission trip summaries, workshop reports, and internal updates
- Ensure proper documentation and use of internal WRI systems for knowledge sharing.
What you will need:
- Education: You have a completed bachelorโs degree in sustainability, public policy, business, finance, economics, international development, political science or related field
- Experience: You have 6+ years full-time relevant work experience including engagement with senior government officials and policymakers
- Proven track record in facilitating and managing multi-stakeholder processes particularly on policy, regulatory reform, or enabling environment development
- Experience working with international development agencies, finance institutions, or donor-funded programs
- Demonstrated experience in green growth sectors ;ideally climate-smart agriculture, clean energy, water systems and resilience, food loss and waste, or other climate-related fields
- Experience in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMIC), preferably in Africa, with an understanding of local political and economic contexts
- Experience representing an organisation in high-level forums
- Experience in relationship-building, negotiating and facilitating across government, private sector, and civil society stakeholders
- Experience in project management, including planning, monitoring, and reporting
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly within Ethiopia and occasionally internationally
- Languages: Proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in Amharic an added advantage.
