ContextLebanon faces a critical nutrition situation, with the prevalence of stunting among children under five nearly doubling since 2021, and widespread micronutrient deficiencies affecting children, adolescent girls, and women and increase in obesity among adolescent girls. The 2023โ2024 LIMA survey highlights alarming rates of chronic malnutrition, poor quality of diets, and developmental delays, especially among vulnerable groups such as Syrian and Palestinian refugees. These findings underscore the urgent need for robust nutrition and child development programming, effective monitoring, and strong support to implementing partners to achieve national and UNICEF nutrition goals. This UNV assignment is part of UNICEF Lebanonโs Nutrition Program, which aims to provide support in daily operations of the nutrition section by following up on action points, supporting implementing partners with reporting and Programme Document (PD) development, ensuring timely and accurate data entry on UNICEF platforms, and coordinating with partners on training needs and logistics. The role includes monitoring and tracking nutrition supplies with the supply team, and supporting the integration of nutrition and early childhood development activities. Additionally, the associate will support in providing technical and administrative support to ensure smooth implementation and reporting of nutrition interventions. In addition to duty station specific vaccine requirements, appointments are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the appointment. It does not apply to UN Volunteers who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their contracts. Task DescriptionThe UNV Nutrition Officer will play a key role in supporting UNICEFโs Nutrition and ECD programming by ensuring effective partner coordination, reporting, and supply tracking. The associate will contribute to the smooth implementation and monitoring of nutrition, IYCF, IMAM, and ECD in emergency interventions, working closely with the Nutrition and child development Officer and the Chief of Nutrition and child development section and other colleagues in the nutrition sections and other program colleagues at UNICEF, implementing partners, and relevant stakeholders Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of The Nutrition and Child development officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Nutrition Officer will: โข Be responsible for data quality related to nutrition, Early Childhood Development(ECD), , including quality control, data collection, cleaning, and analysis from MoPH PHC data and other sources monthly. โข Ensure timely reporting and monitoring of relevant indicators on Activity Info, as per the RWP monitoring plan, and monitor partnersโ Activity Info data reporting monthly (through Neuro DB). โข Contribute to internal reports, donor reports, development and revision of Annual Work Plan indicators. โข Coordinate with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and other relevant ministries and the Nutrition sector to organize and follow up on nutrition and ECD trainings and meetings, ensure accurate recording of training activities and outcomes, and support the tracking and documentation. โข Ensure effective follow-up and tracking of nutrition supplies by coordinating closely with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and the Nutrition sector, maintaining up-to-date records of stock levels, supporting supply management processes, and documenting the distribution and utilization of nutrition commodities to ensure timely and accurate stock management across all partners. โข Contribute to the development of concept notes on ECD and nutrition projects for calls for proposals, as requested. โข Assist in ECD and nutrition-related Project Development with UNICEF partners. โข Support quality assurance of projects implemented by partners through regular programmatic visits and participation in monthly and quarterly progress review meetings, ensuring thorough follow-up, documentation, and timely identification of challenges and best practices. โข Gather evidence, including media reports, studies, and news on ECD and nutrition. โข Engage in regular internal and external meetings. โข Provide technical and administrative support for Nutrition and ECD in emergency interventions. โข Develop practical skills in project management, data analysis, and quality assurance within large-scale nutrition and early childhood development programs. โข Strengthen abilities in coordination, communication, and stakeholder engagement by working with government entities, implementing partners, and multidisciplinary teams. โข Deepen technical knowledge in nutrition interventions (including IYCF, IMAM, and ECD in emergencies), supply chain management, and evidence-based reporting in a multicultural, mission-driven environment.
