Context Under the direct ย supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in IOM Uzbekistan and, in collaboration with the Regional Thematic Specialists (RTS) at the Regional Office and relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centres, the post holder ย will be responsible and accountable for the management and delivery of project activities under the Migrant Protection and Assistance ย  thematic area ; working to support the protection of vulnerable migrants, including Survivors of Trafficking in partnership with ย the Government of Uzbekistan, organisations representing migrants, other UN agencies and individual migrants themselves. The post holder ย  will the head of the Migrant Protection Unit ย in the IOM Uzbekistan Mission.ย 

1.ย ย ย ย Coordinate the overall implementation and monitoring of the operational, administrative and financial aspects of relevant projects in accordance with IOM policies and practices as well as donorโ€™s requirements.

2.ย ย ย ย Keep the COM and regional project managers informed of the status of implementation; identify gaps and risks and suggest actions to improve implementation.

3.ย ย ย ย Prepare proposals for the development and adjustment of work plans, project budgets, Monitoring & Evaluation tools and standard operations procedures to support effective project delivery

4.ย ย ย ย Coordinate the collection, verification and analysis of data and background information; update information management systems and social media platforms on project related activities including project awareness and visibility, summaries, press releases and other relevant materials.

5.ย ย ย ย Coordinate the timely preparation and dissemination of project reports in accordance with IOM procedures and donor requirements. ย 

6.ย ย ย ย Liaise and coordinate with donors, partners, United Nations agencies, local authorities and stakeholders and government counterparts. ย 

7.ย ย ย ย Coordinate the planning, development, organization and delivery of capacity building activities targeting IOM staff, government and civil society partners, implementing partners and communities. ย 

8.ย ย ย ย Advise the COM and other relevant colleagues on trends and new programming opportunities linked to the designated thematic area,

9.ย ย ย ย Support the preparation of project proposals and concept notes and a diverse range of communication products and other planning documents

10.ย ย ย ย Attend relevant conferences, workshops, working groups, interagency coordination meetings, and other forums

11.ย ย ย ย Supervise and provide training and technical guidance to project staff.

12.ย ย ย ย Undertake duty travel relating to project implementation, monitoring visits, project assessments, liaison with counterparts, etc.

13.ย ย ย ย Perform other related duties as required.ย 

Education

โ€ข ย ย ย ย Bachelorโ€™s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or,
โ€ข ย ย ย ย Masterโ€™s degree in the above-mentioned fields

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย  Experience

โ€ข ย ย ย ย Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;ย 
โ€ข ย ย ย ย Experience in working in the field of migrant protection, counter trafficking and legal and policy development;
โ€ข ย ย ย ย Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
โ€ข ย ย ย ย Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Skills

โ€ข ย ย ย ย In depth knowledge of migrant protection issues, trafficking in persons and of the legal frameworks governing migration and migrant rights
โ€ข ย ย ย ย  In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas relating to Uzbekistan and Central Asia
โ€ข ย ย ย ย Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
โ€ข ย ย ย ย Knowledge of project development and project management in the development sector

Languages Fluency in English and ย Uzbek (oral and written) plus working knowledge of Russian (written and oral)ย  IOMโ€™s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
