Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a Related Organization of the United Nations and the leading intergovernmental agency in the field of migration. IOM is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society alike. Working in close partnership with governments, UN entities, civil society, and communities, IOM supports its Member States in meeting the operational challenges of migration, advancing understanding of migration issues, encouraging social and economic development through migration, and upholding the human dignity and well-being of migrants.

IOM has been operational in Papua New Guinea (PNG) since 2001, supporting the Government and communities in addressing a wide range of migration and mobility-related challenges. Guided by IOMโ€™s Strategic Vision and aligned with national priorities, IOMโ€™sย programming spans all four pillars of its global Strategic Results Framework: saving lives and protecting people on the move; driving solutions to displacement; facilitating safe pathways for regular migration; and strengthening migration governance.
