How can you make a difference?ย Under the direct supervision of Chief of field office and technical guidance UNICEFโs Education Specialist,ย the Consultant will serve as the primary focal point for youth and education coordination in Benghazi andย eastern Libya. The role requires close collaboration with government counterparts, implementing partners,ย civil society, and UNICEFโs program teams. A cross-cutting emphasis will be placed on youth engagement,ย particularly among marginalized and out-of-school adolescents. Key responsibilities include:
Program Coordination and Technical Support o Act as the focal point for UNICEFโs youth and education programs in eastern Libya. o Provide ongoing technical support to implementing partners on the delivery of non-formalย education (NFE), accelerated learning, remedial programs, and life skills initiatives. o Ensure that programs are inclusive, gender-sensitive, and aligned with national standardsย and UNICEFโs global frameworks. Stakeholder Engagement and Capacity Building o Liaise with government stakeholders, particularly the Ministry of Education and Ministry ofย Youth, to strengthen coordination, ownership, and sustainability of youth-focusedย interventions. o Engage with civil society organizations and local communities to promote youth participationย and community-based solutions. Monitoring and Field Support o Monitor the implementation of UNICEF-supported education interventions in eastern Libya,ย including at NFE centers, community-based education facilities, and public schools. o Conduct regular field visits and provide feedback for continuous improvement and qualityย assurance. Youth Engagement and Empowerment o Facilitate the expansion and operationalization of the Youth Advisory Group (YAG) in theย East, ensuring inclusive representation and regular engagement. o Support youth-led initiatives focused on peacebuilding, climate resilience, and civicย engagement, in coordination with UN and NGO partners. o Promote adolescent participation across UNICEF-supported platforms and programs. Reporting and Documentation o Document program progress, challenges, and success stories through detailed monthlyย reports and field visit summaries. o Contribute inputs to donor reports, situation updates, and advocacy briefs related to youthย and education.
