About IRRI The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is dedicated to reducing poverty and hunger through rice science; improving the health and welfare of rice farmers and consumers; and protecting the rice-growing environment for future generations. IRRI is an independent, nonprofit, research and educational institute, founded in 1960 by the Ford and Rockefeller foundations with support from the Philippine government. Working with in-country partners, IRRI develops advanced rice varieties that yield more grain and better withstand pests and disease as well as flooding, drought, and other harmful effects of climate change.
Job Purpose
To support the IRRI Library and Documentation Services (LDS) team in enhancing data and knowledge management systems by improving interoperability, automating workflows, and streamlining organizational data processes. The consultant will provide technical expertise in designing efficient and sustainable systems that strengthen not only the Library System but also IRRIโs digital infrastructure, with a focus on general data and knowledge management.
This position will be based at the IRRI Headquarters, Los Baรฑos, Philippines, and may only be filled by permanent citizens of the Philippines.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of automated workflows to streamline library and organizational data processes.
- Enhance system interoperability and assist in IRRIโs transition from Google to Microsoft platforms.
- Optimize data integration, minimize manual tasks, and improve data consistency using tools such as SharePoint and Power Automate.
- Contribute to and drive initiatives related to knowledge management, digital transformation, and data strategy implementation, as assigned.
- Provide technical troubleshooting support and conduct systems analysis to identify inefficiencies.
- Recommend scalable solutions to strengthen knowledge and data management practices across the organization.
- Support other related projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or any related field with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Skills Required
Mandatory
- Proven experience in designing and implementing automated workflows for data or knowledge management.
- Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or any related field with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with Microsoft tools, including SharePoint, Power Automate, Power BI, and Azure.
Preferred
Familiarity with general knowledge management principles and best practices in organizational data handling. Knowledge in data modeling, metadata structuring, and systems integration. Strong skills in data management, integration, and analytics.
