Mission and objectivesIn Indonesia, UN Women works with government, civil society organizations, academia, the media, the public and private sectors to address national priorities of gender equality and womenโ€™s empowerment. Women, Peace and Security UN Women Indonesia aims to empower women to contribute to better, safer, and more peaceful communities. We promote localized model based on womenโ€™s leadership to promote peace and tolerance, strengthening key actors and youth. Womenโ€™s Economic Empowerment UN Women Indonesia works with a range of stakeholders, including private sectors, to support women economic empowerment by providing access to skill development, resources and enabling environment to increase womenโ€™s participation in the economy.

ContextAs the specialized UN Agency on gender equality and the empowerment of women, UN Women in Indonesia is also working alongside other UN Agencies to ensure that commit-ments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming are translated into UN works and pro-grammes to achieve Sustainable Development Goals across the country. UN Women pro-grammes in Indonesia are guided by the Strategic Note (SN) 2021-2025, that is aligned with UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). In addition to programmatic interventions, UN Women has a triple mandate of normative sup-port, UN coordination, and operational activities. Under the guidance of the Head of Pro-grammes and direct supervision of the Monitoring and Reporting Analyst, the UN Volunteer for Monitoring and Reporting Assistant is expected to provide technical support in strengthen-ing UN Womenโ€™s data, monitoring, reporting, and coordination roles with the utilization of the relevant UN Womenโ€™s monitoring and reporting mechanism.

Task DescriptionUnder the overall guidance of the Senior Programme Management Specialist/Head of Programmes and direct supervision of the Monitoring and Reporting Analyst, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: 1. Provide technical support to ensure that monitoring and reporting mechanisms align with UN Womenโ€™s standards and guidelines. 2. Coordinate and standardize data collection and analysis across programmes to ensure consistency in project reporting. 3. Support Programme Teams, under the coordination and guidance of Programme Leads, in collecting and monitoring field-level and implementing partners data to track project achievements and progress. 4. Review implementing partnersโ€™ progress reports and provide constructive feedback to enhance clarity, completeness, validity, and timeliness. 5. Support the review of donor reports by providing input to improve their quality, accuracy, and adherence to reporting timelines. 6. Contribute to the development of results-based reports and documentation for internal and external audiences, including donors and the public. 7. Support the Country Office in strengthening results-based reporting systems, including capacity building for implementing partners. 8. Provide technical support for UN coordination reporting mechanisms, including data integration in UNINFO and gender scorecard monitoring and reporting. 9. Support UN Womenโ€™s coordination mandate, including contributions to the work of the Gender Theme Group and other relevant inter-agency working groups. 10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Monitoring and Reporting Analyst. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: โ€ข Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); โ€ข Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; โ€ข Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; โ€ข Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; โ€ข Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; โ€ข Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Living conditions and remarksThe position will be based in the Jakarta, capital of Indonesia and home to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat, where basic living needs, including accommodation, banking facilities, medical facilities and telecommunications/internet services are readily available. All staple foods such as rice, bread, meat, vegetables, fruits, salt, sugar, cooking oil, etc. can be found in the markets, along with basic hygiene products and household supplies, including variety of imported goods. Almost all items can also be ordered for delivery (from grocery to cooked food to household essentials) through various mobile applications. Jakarta has numerous good restaurants as well as plenty of attractive malls and shopping centres, making it one of the most vibrant cities to live in South-East Asia. Jakartaโ€™s climate is generally hot and humid, with the Indonesian wet and dry seasons dividing the year in two. Average temperature is in the upper 30ยฐC range year-round, and the rainy season lasts between November and March. The most used means of transportation are taxi or local bus. Mobile phone is the most reliable tool to communicate, and internet services are readily available at the apartment complexes. ATMs are located on every other street in Indonesia and international cards can usually be used to withdraw Indonesian Rupiah. As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
