OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
Consultancy Overview
The M&E Support consultant will provide coordination and technical support to select and ongoing education for health and wellbeing operational research, program monitoring and evaluation activities across the UNESCOโs Section of Health and Education, the West and Central African region (WCA), and the East and Southern African region (ESA) for a duration of 11 months. These M&E activities which are described in detail below include coordination support for the implementation of the WHOโs Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS) and Global School Health Policies and Practices Survey (G-SHPPS) across 26 focal countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
The M&E Support consultant will be positioned within the Health and Education Section, providing technical program support to all coordination-related needs of the GSHS and G-SHPPS surveys across select O3 program countries in WCA and ESA.
The specific research, evidence generation and M&E tasks to be carried out by the consultant are described below:
Long Description
Operational Coordination for the GSHS and G-SHPPS surveys across implementing countries Provide technical guidance and support on issues related to school health surveys, providing guidance and support to UNESCO, WHO, and Ministries of Health and Education to implement GSHS/G-SHPPS survey plans. Support data analysis and dissemination once data collection is completed. This includes assisting in the interpretation of findings, preparing reports, and developing materials for sharing results with stakeholders at regional and global levels. Plan and organize a data validation workshop with participation from all survey countries. This includes coordinating logistics, developing the workshop agenda, preparing materials, facilitating sessions, and ensuring engagement of all relevant stakeholders. Integration of health and well-being in education sector planning Collaborate with the SO1 team at HQ to implement the sectionโs programme of work โPlanning for healthy and thriving learnersโ working to provide countries with technical support and policy guidance to integrate health, well-being and associated themes into Education sector plans. Operationalize the WCA commitment indicators Develop data collection tools and outline processes to collect primary data from WCA countries to obtain identified process and outcome level WCA commitment indicator performance measures. Provide support to WCA countries to mainstream WCA commitment indicator measures in routine reporting systems for reporting consistency and regularity. Support to UNESCO HAE sectionโs report on School Violence and sectionโs M&E workpieces Provide technical and coordination support to the development of UNESCOโs report on School violence through the collation of required datasets Provide support to collating indicator measures to populate the Result and Accountability Framework (RAF) for the sectionโs work across HQ, and regional offices (WCA, ESA, AP, LAC and EECA).COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial) Planning and organizing (C)Innovation (C)Results focus (C)Accountability (C)Teamwork (C)Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C)Communication (C)Professionalism (C)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in coordinating large-scale survey projects, in the fields of public health or education. Demonstrated expertise in survey methodologies, data collection techniques, and data management practices. At least 2 years of experience working with international organizations, government agencies, and diverse cultural contexts. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools. Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, education, or a related field is preferred. Excellent knowledge of English and good knowledge of French (written/spoken/reading comprehension) .BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS
