Your team
Within the The Directorate Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre, the Military Advisor provides strategic military guidance and coordination to support business and organizational objectives, ensuring seamless civil-military collaboration.
Your role
Your role will be to:
- Provide strategic military guidance and advice on:
- Critical national and international initiatives shaping the future of the air transport system (e.g., FABEC, SESAR), ensuring military interests are effectively integrated.
Required qualification, experience & competencies
University degree of 4 years or of 3 years plus 1 year of relevant professional experience. Internal candidates can check on the intranet to see what level of in-house experience is considered equivalent to educational qualifications where appropriate. Minimum 10 years' relevant experience in military ATC or military air operations, including at least 2 years of relevant working experience at ministerial level. Experience in the field of ATM in the event of crisis and defence. Experience in the field of military exercise and mission planning. Experience in providing strategic advice or technical expertise within a military domain. Proficient in German military structures and procedures, especially in the Hannover Upper Flight Information Region (UIR). Understanding of NATO structures and procedures. Understanding of civil and military ATM systems, data processing infrastructures, civil-military interoperability requirements. Technical writing skills (English). Proficiency in stakeholder management. Communication: You adapt communication to different situations and audiences. Networking: You design networks with a view to develop strategic connections. Analytical Thinking: You apply methodical approach to complex information. Problem solving: You solve complex problems and provide effective solutions. Influencing: You tailor style and approach to impact others. Strategic focus: You align action to strategy. Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment. Professional conduct in line with the corporate behaviours of the Agency, i.e. result-driven, readiness to change, customer focus, integrity and team-player approach. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C1/2.The levels relate to the European-framework-reference Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR).
Useful information
Candidates must officially be nominated by their national military authorities. They must attach proof of support from their national military authority to their application. Applications will be accepted from nationals of EUROCONTROL Member States only. The selected candidate may be required to provide documentary evidence confirming they meet the minimum education requirements. They will be informed if and when specific evidence is needed. Please note that no offer (for external candidates) or appointment (for internal candidates) will be made until the necessary evidence, if required, is validated. The selected candidate will be offered a contract for a duration of five (5) years in accordance with the provisions of the Staff Regulations governing officials at EUROCONTROL. This contract may be renewed for a total duration of up to nine (9) years, or it may be converted into an undetermined contract. The selected candidate must successfully complete a probationary period of nine (9) months before being established in the post. Internal candidatesIf selected, the person will keep their current type of appointment duration (undetermined or determined).
The internal staff member with a determined contract will be offered, in principle, an appointment for 3 Year(s) with a maximum total duration of 9 years. The successful candidate shall be appointed at the grade set out in this vacancy notice, or if a group of grades has been published for a job level, in principle at the basic grade of the published job level. Candidates declared suitable who are not selected for the post will be placed on a reserve list for similar roles. The reserve list will be valid for one year from the closing date of applications.
