The Programme on Emerging Infections under the Infectious Disease Division is working to establish a dynamic and strategic approach to support the MBDC unit of DGHS in countryโs fight against TB. The solutions will be focused on defined priority areas โ increased TB detection, decentralized DR-TB management, improving detection and management of child TB, expanded prevention, private sector engagement in TB, etc.
The Medical Officer will report to the Sr. Programme Coordinator / Deputy Project Coordinator. The position holder will be responsible for programme implementation and supervision in the field sites, with special focus on Child TB and DR TB, in coordination with project management, GoB, local TB implementing partners and other stakeholders/ sub-recipient / partner organizations. S/he will be involved toโ
Support Active Case Finding intervention in project implementation areas; Assist to mainstream decentralized, person-centered, fully ambulatory zero-day DR-TB treatment into routine TB care; Manage MDR TB patients in collaboration with physicians at NIDCH and other chest disease hospitals/clinics; Monitor adverse events and manage those, facilitate proper recording and reporting of the MDR TB patients from NIDCH, other chest disease hospitals/clinics, district hospitals, and UHCs; Support in developing technical capacity of UHC-based teams in DR-TB and child TB patient management; Work with MBDC field teams to follow up and monitor DR-TB patients enrolled under ambulatory zero-day treatment; Conduct patient evaluation/follow-up, as and when necessary for assigned project activities; Provide technical assistance to MBDC to identify and mitigate operational challenges in rolling out the all oral MDR TB treatment plan; Manage and guide field staff for clinical/programmatic field activities to ensure smooth and efficient implementation; Develop programme materials, and conduct skill building sessions for field staff; Review and analysis of digitally-reported data from the field sites and provide feedback, as appropriate; Conduct regular meetings with the field teams to monitor deliverables against timelines and criteria, and provide feedback for improvement; Build rapport with all the stakeholders in the assigned working areas, maintain liaison with MBDC Officials, local health authorities and relevant stakeholders within the designated areas; Carry out any other activities, assigned by the seniors/supervisor.Required qualification and experience:
MBBS degree from a Medical College, recognized by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC); candidates having Masters in Public Health (MPH) will be given preference. 3 years of relevant experience in programme/field implementation. Proven prior experience in the field of TB program is highly desired.Location: Anywhere in Bangladesh with frequent travel to field sites.

Contract Type and Duration:
CSA basis for 5 months with a possibility of extension, subject to the availability of funds and performance.Salary & benefits:
134,048 Tk/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances; Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.Notes of attention:
