Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.ย  ย In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who: a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities; b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; or c) are sponsored by governmental/non governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor. d) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelorโ€™s level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months. e) are between 20 and 36 years of age.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief Migration Health Officer and direct supervision of the Laboratory supervisor, the intern will be responsible to support IOM laboratory service delivery with respect to Migration Health Assessments (HAP) and other programmes implemented by the IOM Migration Health Division in country in Douala, Cameroon. The incumbent shall have the following objectives:

Computer literate with understanding of Microsoft word, Excel, and other relevant data processing software in laboratory data management system;ย Knowledge and experience in clinical laboratory techniques;ย Knowledge of laboratory quality management systems;ย Knowledge of the principles and practices laboratory biosafety;Good awareness of the laboratory role in health systems, optimal use of resources for quality and efficient services delivery.
