Mission and objectivesEstablished in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. IOM is part of the United Nations system, as a related organization. IOM supports migrants across the world, developing effective responses to the shifting dynamics of migration and, as such, is a key source of advice on migration policy and practice. The organization works in emergency situations, developing the resilience of all people on the move, and particularly those in situations of vulnerability, as well as building capacity within governments to manage all forms and impacts of mobility. The Organization is guided by the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, including upholding human rights for all. Respect for the rights, dignity and well-being of migrants remains paramount.
ContextIOM works to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems, and to support the systematic and humane management of migration in order to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need. IOM will conduct data collection activities in the field in close coordination with \"Supporting Tรผrkiyeโs Efforts for Efficient Migration Management\" Projectโs stakeholders, including the Presidency of Migration Management (PMM). Team Leader will be reporting to IOM and will work under direct supervision of IOMโs Senior Project Associate and Field Coordinator.
Task DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of IOM and in collaboration with the PMM, the UN Volunteer will: โข Oversee daily activities of enumerators, ensuring adherence to data collection protocols and schedules โข Assign locations to enumerators and monitor their progress โข Conduct quantitative and qualitative interviews in the field with individuals from both host and migrant communities โข Supervise and be accountable for the process of data collection performed by the enumerators throughout the province of responsibility โข Provide real-time feedback and guidance to Enumerators on data quality issues โข Conduct field visits with Project Associates โข Utilize established mobile data collection tools โข Submit daily updates on progress, challenges, and observations โข Maintain liaison with community members and local authorities for the purpose of access to the field and coordination โข Perform any other duties assigned by the direct supervisor Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities: - Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day, 5th of December). - Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country. - Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities (for instance at https://vra.unv.org), - Contribute articles/wrjte-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc. - Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers. - Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Living conditions and remarksThis is a volunteer assignment, not an employment. By sharing your time, energy, and talents, you can support communities in need and become part of something greater than yourself โ a global movement for peace, development and humanitarian aid. Volunteering strengthens trust, solidarity, and reciprocity among citizens, and it can promote a sense of belonging and purpose. The UN Volunteer will be based in the advertised duty station and responsible for arranging her/his own housing and other living essentials. Summary of this national UN Volunteer Entitlements: (Paid in local currency) โข Monthly Living Allowance (MLA) is USD 968 (Paid in Turkish Lira) โข Private insurance: Health, dental, life and dismemberment (coverage by CIGNA) As per UNโs diplomatic mission status, it is not included in National Security Institutionโs (SGK) system but can be only initiated on private basis. โข Entry allowance: USD 10 Notes: 1) The allowances are in no way to be understood as a salary, compensation or reward in exchange for the volunteer work. 2) It's important to note that UNV assignments are volunteer assignments, not employment. 3) An additional IOM security clearance for the shortlisted candidates may be required for this assignment.
