ITS Vice Presidency Context:
Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150 locations.
Our vision is to transform how the Bank Group accomplishes its mission through information and technology. In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, the formulation and implementation of the ITS strategy is an ongoing, iterative process of learning and adaptation developed through extensive consultations with business partners throughout the World Bank Group.
ITS shapes its strategy in response to changing business priorities and leverages new technologies to achieve three high-level business outcomes: business enablement, by providing Bank Group units with innovative digital tools and technologies to transform how they deliver value for their clients; empowerment & effectiveness, by ensuring that all Bank Group staff are connected, able to find information, and productive to accelerate the delivery of development solutions globally; and resilience, by equipping the Bank Group to provide risk-based cybersecurity and robust data protection for a global network and a growing cloud platform. The ITS mission is to leverage information and technology as a force multiplier to accelerate, deepen, and sustain development impact. Implementation of the strategy is guided by three core principles. The first is to deliver solutions for business partners that are customer-centric, innovative, and transformative. The third principle is to excel at the basics by providing a high performing, robust, and resilient IT environment for the organization.
WBG Finance (ITSFI) is responsible for providing high quality, streamlined information and technology solutions for the World Bankโ€™s Financial services, which include Corporate Finance, Risk Management, Controls, Treasury, Loans, Accounting, and Concessional finance (handling donor contributions from inception to the point of final disbursement, including IDA, Financial Intermediary Funds and Trust Funds). ITSFI is additionally responsible for building its IT services using a shared platform that provides scale, leverage, reliability, and control while at the same time improving responsiveness to emerging business needs. The ITSFI team is accountable for the implementation of the ITS Strategy supporting WBG core finance business processes.
As a unit within the ITSFI department, ITSFT unit enables key functions of the WBG Finance and Accounting vice-presidency and its corporate partners such as financial management, payments and disbursements, new lending product deployment, financial accounting, institutional analytics, and external reporting. The unit also operates and evolves WBG ERP and the external client digital banking platform and supports WFA financial technology innovation.

Strategic Context
Investments in the Corporate Finance and Accounting Domain will enable the scale-up of WBG operations by integrating key outcomes from the Aria, Libra, and blockchain initiatives. These investments will support the Evolution Roadmap priorities by enhancing operational efficiency by simplifying business processes to enable more efficient use of funds and improving financial controls. The World Bank Group's Finance ERP modernization project will enhance financial management capabilities, reduce operational risk, and increase agility. Project Libra will modernize the Bank's loan ecosystem, streamline and automate loan processes, and incorporate innovations such as AI, OCR, and Blockchain, ensuring greater flexibility, scalability, and adaptability. Adopting blockchain technology will optimize and digitize end-to-end business processes, providing full traceability, immutable audit trails, and efficient data management. These strategic initiatives will position the WBG at the forefront of financial innovation, promoting sustainable development and financial stability.

Roles & Responsibilities
The World Bankโ€™s Finance IT unit is seeking a dynamic, highly skilled, and motivated full stack data professional with deep expertise in data engineering to drive the modernization and optimization of our financial data platforms and delivering actionable insights for the Finance business teams. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing existing data pipelines and solutions using Informatica PowerCenter and design/build new pipelines and solutions leveraging a modern data stack including Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2), Dremio, Power BI, Python-based ETL/ELT, and Azure Data Factory (ADF) with particular focus on Capital Markets and Lending data. This role is primarily technical, requiring deep expertise in data engineering, integration architecture, and data platform operations. The incumbent will be expected to gain and apply practical domain understanding over time to deliver robust, compliant solutions that meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Engineering & Architecture (Hands-on Leadership)โ€ข Lead the hands-on design, build, and maintenance of scalable, secure, high-performance data pipelines and architectures leveraging:โ€ข Informatica PowerCenter for enterprise ETL/ELT design, development, administration, performance tuning, and migration.โ€ข Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2) for data lake storage and governance.โ€ข Dremio for data virtualization and semantic layer enablement.โ€ข Python and SQL for data processing, automation, and operational tooling.โ€ข Architect and implement end-to-end pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), orchestrating batch and real-time ingestion from diverse financial sources (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv/Reuters, transactional systems, risk analytics platforms).โ€ข Integrate Azure cloud-native services (Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Hubs, Stream Analytics) to enable real-time and event-driven processing patterns.โ€ข Pilot and evaluate new technologies (e.g., Apache Iceberg, Databricks) to enhance lakehouse capabilities, performance, and cost efficiency.โ€ข Establish and enforce best practices for data quality, lineage, observability, and governance aligned to World Bank and industry standards.

Selection Criteria

โ€ข Masterโ€™s degree in Engineering, Finance, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelorโ€™s degree with 7+ years of experience.โ€ข Minimum 5 years of hands-on data engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.โ€ข Proven, hands-on expertise with Informatica PowerCenter:โ€ข End-to-end ETL/ELT development (mappings, workflows, sessions), repository management, versioning, job orchestration.โ€ข Performance tuning, pushdown optimization, partitioning, and high-volume data processing.โ€ข Administration and operations (upgrades, patches, security, scheduling, monitoring).โ€ข Strong experience architecting and operating data platforms with ADLS Gen2, Dremio, Azure Data Factory, Python, and SQL.โ€ข Demonstrated experience with real-time/event-driven ingestion and processing using Azure native services (Functions, Logic Apps, Event Hubs, Stream Analytics).โ€ข Solid understanding of data modeling (dimensional, relational), metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks.โ€ข Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, manage projects, and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.โ€ข Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and compliance best practices.
