Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU), Development Partnerships Office (DPO) WMO is committed to achieving diversity and a balanced workforce. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the primary supervision of the Head of Project Development and Implementation Unit, working closely with the Associate Project Communication Officer, the intern will perform the following duties:
- Support the development of project communication material for publishing on various social channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, X, BlueSky);
- Draft project web news content with reports received from project managers;
- Support with the upkeep of project web pages on the WMO public website;
- Assist in the organization and communication of Forum;
- Feed and manage PDMU content calendar in collaboration with project managers and Associate Project Communication Officer;
- Assist with other day to day tasks and any other business, as seen fit by primary supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, marketing, journalism, international relations, social science, environmental sciences or related fields.
Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internship programme
- Strong organizational and research skills;
- Excellent analytical, communication and writing skills;
- Experience in writing and editing reports, articles, or other texts (in English) is required;
- Strong social media skills, specifically with Instagram, TikTok and other micro-storytelling platforms;
- Knowledge of web publication tools, video and photo editing tools is an advantage;
- Computer proficiency in standard software applications (MS Office, Excel, Word, Powerpoint);
- Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.
Other requirements
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit
- Knowledge of the climate, weather and water field is an advantage
- Experience in filming and/or data visualization would be an asset
Languages
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic, French, Spanish, and/or other United Nations official languages would also be an advantage.

Work programme:
To be determined in collaboration with intern based on their unique skillset, experience, and expectations from the internship, as well as the support needed from the Head, Project Development and Management Unit and the Associate Project Communications Officer.
Learning component of the internship:
This internship should leave the intern feeling more equipped to join the workforce in an entry level position. In addition to strengthening their hard skills in the area of communication through day-to-day tasks like editing and drafting content, it will also help them hone their soft skills in collaboration,
adaptability, and problem-solving by working closely with team members on diverse projects. They will gain practical experience in managing deadlines, receiving and implementing feedback, and navigating professional workplace dynamics, ensuring they leave with both the confidence and competence to succeed in their next role.
