Organizational Unit

The SOFF Secretariat is hosted by WMO in Geneva and follows WMO regulations and rules with respect to all administrative policies and procedures. It comprises a small team of professional staff and operates under the overall guidance of the Steering Committee and is accountable to it. The SOFF Secretariat is located within the Executive Management Department of WMO.
This is a request for an intern who will report to the SOFF Partnerships Officer and will also work in close collaboration with the other members of the SOFF Secretariat team. The period of internship will be from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026.
The incumbent will perform the following duties:
1. Develop a social media plan for SOFF, develop and schedule engaging content for SOFF's social media channels (LinkedIn, kickstart BlueSky) aligning with the organization's communication strategy.
2. Create multimedia materials such as infographics, short videos, and visual assets to enhance online engagement.
3. Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and engage with the online community to foster dialogue and awareness.
4. Assist in analyzing social media metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and suggest improvements.
5. Support the planning and execution of virtual events and campaigns related to SOFF initiatives.
6. Assist with the production of documents related to SOFF advocacy and outreach.
7. Coordinate with WMO communication counterparts in other departments and with SOFF co-founders' communication teams.
8. Collaborate with SOFF Secretariat teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
9. Perform other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor's or master's program in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
Experience
- Previous experience in social media management, professional writing, digital communications, or content creation is an advantage.
- Familiarity with social media analytics tools and content scheduling platforms is an asset.
Other requirements
- Strong writing and editing skills in English.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Interest in climate change, meteorology, or international development is an advantage.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.
