Background/Context
UN Women Georgia Country Office, as part of UN Country Team, has been providing technical and financial assistance to national partners related to countryโs national and international commitments to womenโs rights and gender equality. Key areas of UN Womenโs support include ending violence against women and girls, womenโs participation in decision-making, economic empowerment of women, and the enhancement of womenโs participation in peace and security processes. UN Women has been working with a wide variety of national and international development partners, including other UN Agencies and Programmes.
UN Women Georgia CO operates in Georgian and English, often producing bilingual knowledge products, including communication and reporting materials. To ensure high quality of English language of its products, the CO is interested in recruiting an English language editor, native speaker.ย
Description of Responsibilities /Scope of Work
The International consultant will be responsible to:ย
Edit and proofread short materials in English (news and stories) for UN Women webpage or social media outlets; Edit and proofread longer documents (needs assessment studies, summary of research studies, brochures, annual reports, and alike); Ensure high quality of all edited texts and timely delivery of services; Liaise regularly with the Communication Officer and/or Programme Specialists (depending on the documents).Deliverables:
Deliver short materials edited (typically news and stories for website no longer that 1 page) not later than 2 days after receiving the text; Deliver longer materials/ documents within a timeframe agreed with the UN Women Communication Officer and/ or Programme Specialist; Provide regular quarterly summary reports of deliverables / services provided to the UN Women (for quarterly payments against approved deliverables).Consultantโs Workplace and Official Travel:
This is a home-based consultancy.
Note: the work will be reimbursed based on the submitted finalized deliverable(s) as requested, from the above list of deliverables.ย

University degree (Masterโs) in English or in any related field such as other languages, literature, social science, political science, etc. Bachelorโs degree or equivalentย in English or in any related field such as other languages, literature, social science, political science, etc. with four (4) years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degreeExperience:
In case of masterโs degree two years (in case of bachelorโs degree four years) of experience as an editor/ proofreader; Proved experience of editing (applicants will be required to provide samples of their editing work that was published); Experience working with texts related to human rights/ gender equality issues is an advantage;Languages:
