Work LocationThis internship is designed to be in-person and can be adjusted based on request by the successful candidate Expected duration3 - 6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position is in the Strategic Management Unit (SMU) of the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA). OSAA is mandated to provide advisory, advocacy, coordination and monitoring services supporting Africaโs development. More information about the Office can be found at www.un.org/osaa. The intern will work under the supervision of a staff member of the communications team in SMU. The Intern may be responsible for the following duties: STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS โข Contribute to the maintenance of OSAAโs content calendar โข Contribute to the collection of strategic communication materials from various sources โข Contribute to the maintenance of Trello boards for OSAA events and/or campaigns ADVOCACY โข Contribute to the organization of OSAA events, including hybrid and in-person โข Contribute to the creation/maintenance of distribution lists for media and products outreach โข Contribute to the coordination of meetings with partners to advance OSAAโs advocacy agenda DIGITAL DESIGN โข Contribute to the production of data visualizations for OSAA knowledge products โข Contribute to the design of event flyers, social media assets and PowerPoint presentations โข Contribute to the creation of desktop publishing assets for OSAA knowledge products WEBSITE CONTENT MANAGEMENT โข Contribute to the maintenance of the information architecture on the OSAA website โข Contribute to the creation, curation and posting of multimedia content for OSAAโs website โข Contribute to the enhancement of the language versions of the OSAA website SOCIAL MEDIA โข Contribute to the creation of multimedia content for OSAAโs official social media accounts โข Contribute to the monitoring of social media trends related to OSAAโs priorities โข Contribute to the titling and/or subtitling of short videos used on OSAAโs social media MONITORING & EVALUATION (M&E) โข Contribute to the compilation of analytics data from OSAAโs website and social media account โข Contribute to the collection of data from various OSAA surveys โข Contribute to the testing and research for tools to boost OSAAโs M&E capacity Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโs degree or equivalent). LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
