ย  The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.ย 
ย  In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
ย  a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities; b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; or c) are sponsored by governmental/non governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor. d) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelorโ€™s level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months. e) are between 20 and 36 years of age.

Core Functions/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Support the Programme Officer in the implementation of the PCCMHS program activities. Support the coordination with external stakeholders such as other UN agencies, governments, academic institutions, NGOs, private sector as well as with IOM internally.ย  Support in organizing, developing and facilitating capacity development activities, workshops and other related events.ย  Assist in drafting official and unofficial correspondence, publications and presentation materials.ย  Provide assistance in the knowledge management mapping of current PCCMHS knowledge products and development of an enhanced distribution and knowledge management plan.ย  Provide support to the Programme Officer to design project activities that link climate change and climate mobility in the Pacific.ย  Assist the IOM PCCMHS team with general administrative support as required. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.

Eligibility and Selection

The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities.ย  Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.ย  The Internship Programme is open to candidates of any nationality, but preference will be given to candidates based in the Pacific region.ย  This is a sponsored internship.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Recent graduate. General Information

Interns are granted stipend as per IOM policy as a partial contribution to accommodations and living expenses. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by his/her university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend. Before commencing work, successful candidates will be required to obtain a fit-to-work medical certificate from his/her doctor and submit vaccination records. The Intern will be responsible for obtaining the necessary entry visa and arranging their travel to Bangkok.ย  IOM will assist only in issuing documents required for visa processing. Homebased interns are responsible to manage their own resources to perform this responsibility, like computer, dedicated internet connectivity. IOM only covers the Intern against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the assignment.ย IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses.ย The Intern is responsible for his/her own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work. Any work produced by interns during their internship within the framework of the duties assigned to them should be used for academic purposes exclusively. All economic and moral rights (copyright) pertaining to such work will remain the exclusive property of IOM. Interns are bound by staff confidentiality rules pertaining to their duties in IOM.
