Organizational Context
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the worldโs largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 191-member National Societies (NSs). The overall aim of IFRC is โto inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by NSs with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.โ IFRC works to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people before, during and after disasters, health emergencies and other crises.
IFRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Movement), together with its member National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The work of IFRC is guided by the following fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.
IFRC has five regional offices in Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. IFRC also has country cluster delegations and country delegations throughout the world. Together, the Geneva Headquarters and the field structure (regional, cluster and country) comprise the IFRC Secretariat.
IFRC has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment and other forms of harassment, abuse of authority, discrimination, and lack of integrity (including but not limited to financial misconduct). IFRC also adheres to strict child safeguarding principles.
The Digital Transformation Department (DTD), based in Geneva and in Budapest, coordinates and provides all information and digital technology services for the IFRC worldwide.
The Disaster Climate and Crisis (DCC) Department of the IFRC focuses on helping communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters, climate-related events, and humanitarian crises. They work globally to strengthen resilience, provide emergency aid, and advocate for climate action to reduce vulnerability and ensure long-term recovery.
Integrated Assistance is an initiative jointly sponsored by DTD and DCC and unifies digital tools within the IFRC to enhance community engagement, streamline the delivery of cash, relief items, and essential services and ensure seamless coordination across borders and sectors.
Job Purpose
The Digital Transformation Department is looking for a Project Manager Consultant to support the integrated assistance initiative across multiple products to expand its capacity to develop and deliver.
The types of products to be supported will be from the IFRC digital products portfolio in the Integrated Assistance Initiative
Job Duties and Responsibilities
PROJECT MANAGER EXPERTISE
Project Planning
Develop, maintain, and track the Integrated Assistance initiative within the IFRC secretariat. Work closely with the Integrated Assistance teams and the product managers to develop project timelines, milestones, and resource allocation within a detailed project plan. Coordinate internal resources and partners/vendors for the execution of projects.Stakeholder Management
Conduct project meetings and facilitate communication among project team members and stakeholders. Consolidate reporting data and documentation to support the preparation and organization of operational and tactical committee meetings. Work closely with the DTD PMO to ensure adherence to governance and methodologies, aligning on key deliverables for the larger portfolio.Progress monitoring
Monitor and track project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders. Document meeting notes, actions, and decisions, and maintain a tracker to ensure proper follow-up and accountability Identify, document, and manage project risks and issues. Ensure all project documentation is maintained and updated. Develop and implement mitigation plans to minimize their impact on project outcomes.Quality Assurance
Facilitate continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices. Ensure quality assurance by adhering to and maintaining project standards and procedures within the established methodologies. Ensure the timely handover of the project to the operations team within the agreed timetable and budget, involving all relevant stakeholders (both Geneva and Budapest-based units, and five regional offices), and deliver the necessary documentation as part of the handover process.
PRODUCT MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGE
And adhere to staff regulation and the Code of Conduct of the IFRC.
Duration
The mission should start as soon as possible and is expected to last for 6 months with an occupation rate of 50%. This is based on the current budget allocated.
As for information and subject to the plan approval and the budget allocation, the Project Manager Consultant may continue later.
Location
The work location is fully remote and global.
Education
Required
University degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, computer sciences, business or similar discipline.Preferred
Certification in Project or Product Management (PMP, PRINCE2, HERMES, Scrum, Agile).Experience
Required
Minimum 5 years of related experience in Project Management. Proven experience as a project manager with a track record of successfully managing projects.Knowledge, Skills and Languages
Required
Fluently spoken and written English. Knowledge of project management software and tools such as MS Project, Azure Dev Ops, Jira etc. Excellent verbal and oral communication skills. Excellent documentation skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and teams in different roles, both in-person and remotely, while contributing as a collaborative team member.Preferred
Good command of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish or Arabic). Experience with humanitarian organizations, including leading project with global reach.Competencies, Values and Comments
