ย The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.ย

In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
a) have an interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities.
b)ย are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme
ย ย (minimum Bachelorโs level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and additional enquiries will only be addressed if the candidate is shortlisted.
- Depending on experience and location, IOM provides a small monthly stipend to help offset costs.

ย Background Information
Under the overall supervision of the Chief Migration Health Officer and direct supervision of theย Senior Medical and Information Management Assistant,ย the Medical Intern will be responsible in carrying out the following duties and responsibilities in relation to the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Manila, Philippines.ยThe medical intern may be assigned to the two subunits within the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC): the reception and the communications centre. Below is a description of the possible tasks:ย
Communications Centre duties:ย
- Register migrants in the IOM database and other medical web applications.
- Schedule and confirm medical appointments and receive and communicate messages for medical staff and beneficiaries through the programme-specific mailboxes and calls including walk-in applicants.ย
- Maintain daily statistics related to health assessments and update records.ย
Reception and Data Entry duties:ย
- Perform data processing activities of the Migrant Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) for the United Kingdom TB Screening (UKTB) and Japan Pre-entry Tuberculosis Screening (JPETS) such as:ย
- receiving and explaining the registration process to applicants
- checking the applicantโs identity
- entering the biodata of the applicants in the appropriate platformย
- taking photos using a webcam and loading the image to the appropriate platform; and,ย
- printing of medical forms, consent forms, and other necessary documentsย
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.ย
ย Training Components and Learning ElementsThe Intern will gain experience in working in an international multicultural environment, within the United Nations system.
- Gain experience in organization, management, and international cooperation activities.
- Gain a better understanding of IOMโs work, as an inter-governmental organization in the field of Migration, and work on formulating and editing institutional strategies, priorities and workplans.
- The Intern can also access online training courses at the disposal of all IOM staff.
- The Intern will have the possibility to interact with IOM staff within Headquarters and IOM Missions. Education
- Completing a degree in Communications, Administration or related courses from an accredited academic institution
- Certificate in data entry is an advantageSkills
- Typing speed of at least 60 words per minuteย
- High computer literacy in Windows and MS Office is mandatory
