5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

UNICEF works in some of the worldโ€™s toughest places, to reach the worldโ€™s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfilling their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, a better future

UNICEF works to ensure the rights of all children in the East Asia and Pacific Region.ย  This means the rights of every child living in this country, irrespective of their nationality, gender, religion or ethnicity, to:

survivalย โ€“ to basic healthcare, peace and security; developmentย โ€“ to a good education, a loving home and adequate nutrition; protectionย โ€“ from abuse, neglect, trafficking, child labour and other forms of exploitation; and participation โ€“ to express opinions, be listened to and take part in making any decisions that affect them

How can you make a difference?

To truly ensure no young person is left behind, youth work must be disability-inclusive, providing young people with disabilities with equitable access to quality opportunities for learning, personal growth, and civic engagement. Embedding disability inclusion in youth work standards is not only about removing barriers, but also about creating enabling environments where every young person can contribute, participate meaningfully, and thrive, strengthening both individual potential and societal cohesion.

UNICEF is seeking an individual consultant to produce a Disability-Inclusive Youth Work Training Kit. The Training Kit will include 3 sets of complementary materials:

1) Disability-Inclusive Youth Work Manual.

2) Supporting materials for trainers (e.g., foundational reading to strengthen background knowledge; handouts; Power Points for each Lesson Plan).

3) Supporting materials for trainees/practitioners (e.g., handouts; Power Points for each Lesson Plan).

The Training Kit is to be used by a cadre of trainers in capacity building of a diverse range of practitioners working with young people, all of which have completed Level 4 Youth Work Training. The new training manual needs to be based upon the existing draft Disability-Inclusive Youth Work Training Manual developed by UNICEF Thailand and expanded/modified as needed to be fully aligned with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS), and the UNICEF Disability Inclusion Policy and Strategy (DIPAS).
