Individual Consultant for Sustainable Fisheries Development and Resilient Coastal Livelihoods in Southern Yemen
The objective of the project is to provide a comprehensive diagnostic of the status and sustainability of fisheries in contributing to coastal household livelihoods and food and nutrition security in southern Yemen, and derive recommendations for promoting sustainable fisheries development, strengthening resilience of household livelihoods, and improving food and nutrition security from the research findings. The fieldwork includes two experiments.
Experiment with fish sellers and consumers
The scope of this experiment is to understand consumersโ willingness to pay for enhanced food safety practices in markets for fresh fish in Hadhramaut. This experiment will be implemented in one market for fresh fish, ideally next to the landing site, where households purchase small quantities of fresh fish for own household consumption. This experiment will involve working with a seller of fresh fish in a market and recruiting and surveying 200 consumers of fresh fish.
Experiment with fishermen
The scope of this experiment is to understand fishermenโs willingness to pay for food safety enhancing equipment. This experiment will be implemented in multiple landing sites in Hadhramaut and will involve surveying 60 fishermen.
