Major Function
WWF is seeking a mission-driven intern to join the Renewable Thermal Collaborative (RTC) team โa dynamic partnership working at the forefront of industrial decarbonization.
Addressing the challenge of climate change and creating a low-carbon, climate-resilient future for people and nature is a global priority for WWF. Rapidly accelerating the deployment of clean, renewable energy is a crucial aspect of our ambitious climate and energy strategy.
The Renewable Thermal Collaborative (RTC) is the global coalition for companies, institutions, and governments committed to scaling renewable thermal energy at their facilities. The program works closely with corporate and institutional energy buyers, renewable thermal energy solutions providers, and other stakeholders to scale the deployment of renewable thermal energy solutions, such as electrification, green hydrogen, thermal energy storage, solar thermal, renewable natural gas across a wide spectrum of industrial sectors in the US and beyond.
Under the supervision of the Senior Program Officer, Climate and Renewable Energy, the intern will contribute to research and communications that support RTC activities. This internship offers hands-on experience at the intersection of clean energy and industrial decarbonization. Interns will work closely with WWF experts and gain exposure to leading industry stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Research & Communications: Conducts research, synthesizes and analyzes complex information to develop knowledge products, and prepares internal and external communications materials on renewable thermal energy solutions for industrial decarbonization, international markets, electrification and utility incentives, and other topics as needed in support of the RTC. Cross-functional Collaboration: Supports collaboration and coordination with RTC partners to scale renewable thermal energy solutions.Qualifications
Current enrollment in a graduate program. Preferred fields include sustainability management, environmental policy, energy systems, environmental science, economics, or related disciplines. Subject knowledge in one or more of the following areas is a plus: renewable thermal energy (e.g., electrification, renewable natural gas, green hydrogen), energy markets and policy, corporate sustainability, or industrial decarbonization. This position can be based in WWFโs Washington, DC office or remote. Summer interns are expected to work at least 35 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks; fall interns should be able to work at least 20 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks. Start and end dates are negotiable. Excellent research and writing skills. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Compensation:
This internship can be structured either as a paid internship or for academic credits according to the need of the candidate. $22.50 per hour.
