Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.
DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC is currently looking for a highly-qualified Humanitarian Mine Action Specialist (Peacebulding Specialist) to join our team in Kyiv.
About the job
Under the management of the Head of Program (HoP), the Peacebuilding Specialist supports the technical colleagues (Humanitarian Mine Action, Shelter, Protection, Economic Recovery, Cash, MEAL) and operational colleagues (Partnership, Program and sector managers) to mainstream conflict sensitivity across the project cycle and ways of working. The Peacebuilding Specialist will support and oversee DRC’s direct implementation and partner-led implementation.The role is also expected to support and advise relevant staff based in Area Offices (requiring travel to field locations, e.g. Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipro, Mykolaiv and Kherson).

Programme Development
Ensure results of conflict sensitivity assessments and evaluations are included and mainstreamed into proposals; Provide recommendations to mainstream conflict sensitivity elements across proposals and strategic documents; Monitor sector trends and practices from the broader peacebuilding, social cohesion and dialogue/mediation communities; Working closely with DRC Partnership team, support the mapping of local, regional and national Conflict Sensitivity actors whose vision, mission and values align with DRC and hold potential for partnerships; Support the development and implementation of assessments, studies, reviews and evaluations in close coordination with other sector leads.Project Management
Support the development of conflict analysis and the operationalization of its results; Support the planning, design and implementation of conflict sensitivity assessments across the mission. Based on the results of the assessments, provide recommendations to DRC teams to mainstream conflict sensitivity in their activities; Support the design of conflict management/resolution and conflict sensitivity trainings and workshops for DRC staff across the mission, partners and other relevant external actors. Work closely with the program and MEAL/ Information Management staff to carry out monitoring, and to ensure credible, best-practice monitoring and reporting of program activities; Ensure conflict sensitivity considerations are planned into project workplans. Support program managers with monitoring of financial commitments and expenditures of conflict sensitivity and social cohesion-related activities and projects against budgets and provide timely feedback on budget follow-up.Representation and external coordination
Represent DRC in the relevant coordination mechanisms; Ensure strong coordination and communication with other humanitarian actors active in the sector.Other
Ensure adherence to DRC’s Age, Gender, and Diversity policy and AGD programmatic minimum standards. Ensure compliance with zero-tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse policy. Perform other relevant tasks as requested by and in discussion with the Head of Programme.About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 3 years of work experience in conflict sensitivity, peacebuilding, social cohesion programming. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required:
University degree in political science, international development, peace and conflict studies or other relevant field. Demonstrated commitment to apply an age, gender and diversity (AGD) and conflict sensitive approach to programming. Experience in capacity building and training of staff in social cohesion and peacebuilding programming, and or conflict management, mediation, and dialogue facilitation. Experience working in the NGO sector. Innovative and creative thinking with strong analytical and reporting skills Political and cultural sensitivity, as well as a diplomatic, tactful, and flexible interpersonal style. Ability to set priorities and to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Full professional proficiency in English.Desirable:
