INTRODUCTION TO GGGI
The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies. To learn more please visit about GGGI web page.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Global Green Growth Institute internship program provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGIโs operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. We encourage qualified women and men, in particular, nationals of developing countries, with diverse professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds to apply.
Based in Seoul, GGGI works with 51 Member and Partner countries to support their transition toward green growth models that are environmentally sustainable, economically efficient, and socially inclusive. To fulfill its vision and mission, GGGI partners with governments, multilateral organizations, and the private sector to help countries develop and implement strategies that reduce poverty, foster social equity, improve resource efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and strengthen climate resilience.
The CTL unit leads GGGIโs work on climate policy analysis and evidence-based impact assessment. To support its growing global program portfolio, the CTL is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to assist in evaluating the effectiveness of climate policies. The internship will contribute to CTLโs efforts to improve the quality and availability of data on climate policy impacts, inform national climate actions, and enhance knowledge sharing across countries and institutions. Tasks will include data collection and harmonization, policy impact analysis, and support for strategic outreach and knowledge related activities.
CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
The internship will support GGGIโs contribution to enhancing climate policy databases by expanding geographical and sectoral coverage, particularly in developing countries, and improving the comprehensiveness, consistency, and usefulness of the underlying data. The intern will focus on climate policy data collection, harmonization and early-stage analytical work for the ex-post evaluation of climate policy impacts.
The Policy Team at the Center for Thought Leadership (CTL) is looking for an intern to support its different work streams, notably the Climate Actions and Policies Measurement Framework (CAPMF) developed under the OECD International Programme for Action on Climate, ideally starting from July 2025.
Main tasks include:
Collect and harmonize climate policy data across developing countries, focusing on mitigation instruments of GGGI member countries, including regulatory and price-based policies. Conduct detailed desk reviews of selected GGGI Member and partner countries, mapping policy actions across time and identifying key instruments by sector. Contribute to the maintenance, quality control, and version tracking of the climate policy database. Contribute to the development of a data collection strategy document, outlining approaches to ensure completeness, comparability, and replicability across countries. Review recent literature and practices on ex-post impact assessment of climate policies. Contribute to the development, testing, and refinement of questionnaires to gather policy data from countries or country experts. Contribute to the development of data infrastructure to efficiently store, update, disseminate and validate data with member countries. Create and maintain documentation of the data sources and the methods used to process input data. Prepare and disseminate climate data and indicators through graphs, tables, maps, and innovative data visualizations, and contribute to drafting documents, presentations, reports, and communication materials. Assist in the preparation of policy briefs, internal memos, and knowledge products summarizing progress, findings, and challenges. Support the development and analysis of new or improved policy indicators. Contribute to the development of GGGIโs main climate policy databases by collecting, processing and harmonizing climate policy data from various sources and assist in daily database management. Support the organization of virtual and in-person workshops, webinars, and consultations with stakeholders. Prepare clear and compelling presentation materials for both technical and non-technical audiences. Research and contribute to the development of project concept papers for the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) capacity-building activities, and knowledge-sharing efforts in collaboration with our partners. Contribute to resource mobilization proposals that seek to expand GGGI's work in climate policy evaluation and data development. Actively participate in follow-up sessions and all-team meetings.
