The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGIโs operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
The Investment and Policy Solutions Division (IPSD) is looking for an Intern to support its activities in relation to GGGI's pilot initiatives on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Reporting to the Assistant Director-General, and the Senior Advisor to the Director-General, the Intern provides support to successfully implement this initiative. The candidate will contribute to the effective, quality, and timely delivery of relevant tasks necessary for the successful fulfilling of the Initiative.
The intern will primarily support the work on the value of AI for Green Growth and climate action in member countries by developing priority AI applications (RAG LLM, MRV architecture) in the prioritized application areas, supporting the development of and participating in capacity building sessions and populating the organizationโs AI knowledge base. The intern will also support GGGIโs data and AI pilots by providing ad-hoc research support to teams.
The assignment will include the followings but not limited to:
Support the development and deployment of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) Large Language Models (LLMs), involving tasks such as data preparation and cleaning, prompt engineering, evaluating model performance, and assisting with integration into existing systems. Contribute to the architecture design and implementation of Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems leveraging AI, including researching relevant AI/ML techniques for MRV, assisting with data pipeline development, and supporting the testing and validation of AI-powered MRV components. Assist in identifying and prioritizing potential AI applications within GGGI's focus areas, involving conducting literature reviews, engaging with GGGI teams to understand their needs, and contributing to the development of concept notes for new AI initiatives. Support the development of materials for and participate in capacity-building sessions on AI for Green Growth and climate action, including preparing presentations, drafting training materials, and providing logistical support during workshops. Contribute to populating and maintaining GGGI's internal AI knowledge base, involving documenting AI projects, summarizing relevant research papers, and organizing AI-related resources. Provide ad-hoc research support to GGGI teams on data and AI-related topics involving conducting literature searches, analyzing datasets, and summarizing key findings. Assist with the exploration and evaluation of relevant AI tools, platforms, and datasets, involving testing different software, comparing features, and documenting findings. Support the team in the documentation of AI system development processes and outcomes, including drafting technical reports, progress updates, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall work of the AI initiative. Undertake other tasks as assigned by the Senior Advisor to the Director-General.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:
Be enrolled in a Bachelorโs (final year), Masterโs or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months. Educational background in computer science, information and communication technology, environmental science, data science, and other relevant disciplines.
QUALIFICATION
Previous experience in relevant applications of artificial intelligence. The experience can include internships, volunteering, and unpaid assignments. The experience can be gained within a candidateโs country or outside desired. Demonstrates commitment and passion to green growth and knowledge of climate or environmental data through his/her academic studies. Strong conceptual, analytical, writing and communications skills desired in an intercultural context. Excellent written and spoken English, ability to speak additional language pertaining to GGGI's countries would be a plus. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)SELECTION PROCESS

GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work. TEMRS AND CONDITIONS
Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
