Based in Seoul, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an intergovernmental organization founded to support and promote a model of economic growth known as โgreen growth,โ which targets key aspects of economic performance such as poverty reduction and job creation, as well as social inclusion and environmental sustainability. GGGI partners with countries, multilateral institutions, government bodies, and the private sector to help build economies that achieve strong growth and are less carbon intensive, more resilient to climate change, and more efficient and sustainable in the use of natural resources.
The Strategy and Communications Department is part of the Office of the Director โ ODG โ Division. Together with the Partnerships and Governance Department, the ODG Division supports the Director General (DG) with governance, partnerships, strategies, results, change management, communications, and advisory services. The ODG Division is both internal facing, in that it supports GGGI as whole to fulfil its strategic vision, and external facing in that it supports the DG in developing and maintaining relationships with partners and mobilize resources. The ODG Division ensures the DG is effectively supported to play his role as the 'global voice' for green growth.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Head of Communication & Knowledge Sharing Unit, reporting to the Director of Strategy and Communications, is responsible for leading GGGI's integrated internal and external communications, branding strategies, and knowledge sharing efforts. This role supports the Director-General as the 'global voice' for green growth, manages communication resources across headquarters and field offices, and oversees marketing, public relations, and media activities. The position involves developing strategic communication initiatives, guidelines, and visibility plans while consulting internal stakeholders to ensure mutual ownership of products. The incumbent will analyze, implement, and lead flagship communication initiatives to enhance organizational visibility, direct the growing team of Communication Specialists across GGGI operations, promote the organization's brand, vision, and mission, and ensure efficient dissemination of results to all stakeholders through effective management of the unit.
PURPOSE
The position holder will:
ENGAGEMENT
Develop relationships and consult with senior management and key stakeholders of GGGI on the implementation, promotion and strengthening of its brand, visibility and reputation. Represent the GGGI and the Office of the Director General at selected key communication & knowledge sharing meetings, events and missions, as well as serve as a focal point on communication related issues to internal and external constituencies. Work with other units and support functions from HQ and field offices to ensure early engagement and manage GGGIโs communications and branding works. Establish effective networks of collaboration with major media/ organizations/communities/donors/influencers to showcase GGGIโs capacities, promote GGGIโs mission and brand globally. Provide leadership and direction to communication & knowledge sharing staff as assigned.
DELIVERY
Spearhead the formulation and implementation of global and regional communication, branding, and visibility plans in support of GGGI Strategy 2030, aligned with program development and fundraising. Lead the design and delivery of flagship communications initiatives, including results and impact storytelling, annual reports, and important global events like Global Green Growth Week. Oversee the creation, management, and dissemination of high-quality content across platforms, ensuring consistent messaging to internal and external audiences. Identify and capitalize on communication and branding opportunities, providing technical guidance to enhance organizational visibility and communication capacity across GGGI operations. Advise senior leadership on strategic communication risks, challenges, and opportunities affecting GGGIโs brand and reputation. Foster effective stakeholder engagement through institutionalizing innovative knowledge-sharing and communication solutions, securing cross-organizational uptake, and increasing donor visibility. Oversee, develop, and direct the Communication & Knowledge Sharing Unit to optimize team performance and resource utilization in meeting global communication objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Knowledge Base:
At least a Master's degree (or equivalent) in communications, journalism or related field with broad knowledge of development issues.Professional Experience:
Minimum 15 years of proven operational and managerial leadership in marketing, communications, and branding at international level, with focus on sustainable development, climate change, and non-profit consulting. At least 5 years of international \"communication-for-development\" experience with strong understanding of marketing/communication strategies. Demonstrated expertise in enterprise-wide knowledge management and hands-on media relations. Comprehensive digital marketing knowledge with awareness of industry trends. Experience with campaign management including email, advertising, collateral, analytics, and reporting. Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram). Demonstrated experience in managing various high-level events (trade shows, webcasts, conferences).
FUNCTIONAL
Strategic leader who will drive GGGIโs communications strategy with a strong, long-term commitment to GGGI and its mission, capable of developing and executing compelling communications and branding strategies while expanding partnerships through proactive engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders. Must possess the ability to use data effectively to improve programs, analyze results, and facilitate presentations to others to ensure that appropriate high-quality data is used to influence decision-making. Proven success in business/operational roles during periods of growth/transition in fast-paced environments, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines and work in an organized manner. Excellent team player who performs well under pressure in matrix environments, collaborates across teams, and delivers independently while avoiding silos. Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders. Understanding of development economics and GGGI Member countries/regions, with previous international/multicultural exposure Skilled in translating complex concepts into concise messaging for various audiences messaging in a variety of forums, tailoring communications to effectively fit and influence the targeted audience, with strong presentation and communication skills. Excellent English writing, editing, and presentation/speaking abilities (knowledge of French/Spanish/Korean is an asset). Strong understanding of CRM practices, especially Salesforce, with advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel with high-level of autonomy.Additional Assets:
