Together with governments, the agency is responsible for promoting and consolidating collaboration with all partners, including local authorities, private and non-governmental organizations in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Global Water Operatorsโ€™ Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA) helps water and sanitation operators help one another. Led by UN-Habitat, it is an international network created in 2009 to support operators through Water Operatorโ€™s Partnerships (WOPs) โ€“ not-for-profit peer support partnerships between water and sanitation operators aimed at enhancing their capacity and performance to provide a better service to more people in support of the SDGs. The GWOPA Secretariat translates GWOPAโ€™s mandate into strategies and programs. It implements, through collaboration with a range of partners, annual alliance work plans to help ensure WOPs are scaled up and are contributing to water and sanitation service providersโ€™ improved capacity and performance. The GWOPA Secretariat is currently hosted by the Government of Germany. The EU-WOP programme is a WOP initiated funded by the European Commission Directorate General International Partnerships (DG INTPA) that is supporting Water Operatorsโ€™ Partnerships in Africa, Latin America and Asia. An assessment of projects under the EU-WOP Phase I programme will be conducted in 2025. The Knowledge and Data Consultant reports to the Programme Management Officer of GWOPA, within the Urban Basic Services Section of the Urban Practices Branch. RESPONSIBILITIES WOP Assessment Working in close collaboration with the Lead Assessment Consultant, the Knowledge consultant will conduct the EU WOP Phase I Final Assessment process by preparing background research and analysis on documents, preparing and/or delivering inputs for assessment sessions, supporting the writing and preparation of the 22 EU WOP assessment reports. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree (Masterโ€™s degree or equivalent degree) in International Cooperation/Affairs, Development Studies, Urban Development, Development Planning, Water Engineering/Management or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. At least 5 years working in the field of international cooperation, preferably related to urban water and sanitation issues is required. Previous experience working with the UN or other bilateral/multilateral organizations in international cooperation is desirable Experience conducting research, and drafting reports or other knowledge outputs is desirable. Experience in data management, capacity building, knowledge management, partnerships, and utilities is required. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and oral English is required.
