Mission and objectivesPromotion of Sustainable Development in Donga Mantung Association was officially recognized by the Government of Cameroon in 2006 under authorization No. 152/E.27/750/BAPP/PS. In 2024, it achieved Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, focusing on sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and migration assistance. The association is registered as an Extra-Provincial Corporation in Alberta, Canada. PROSDOMA is dedicated to supporting newcomers in Alberta, helping them successfully settle and integrate into Canadian society. We offer assistance with asylum and permanent residency applications, ensuring newcomers have the legal support they need. Additionally, PROSDOMA provides counseling services, job search support, and computer skills training to equip individuals with essential tools for long-term success. We connect newcomers to vital resources such as food banks, shelters, and tax filing assistance, ensuring their basic needs are met as they navigate their new environment. Our mission goes beyond basic support, as we strive to foster social inclusion by encouraging newcomers to actively contribute to their communities, enriching Canadaโs diverse fabric. PROSDOMA also focuses on expanding its outreach through social media platforms, raising awareness about available services. By doing so, we ensure that newcomers have access to the support they need to build a stable, fulfilling life in Canada.
ContextHaving recently completed the \"Voices of the Displaced: Stories of Climate Migration\" storytelling project, PROSDOMA identified a pressing need to support climate migrants beyond mere storytelling. Many individuals have expressed their dire needs for education, shelter, and access to health services. As we seek to mobilize resources for these vulnerable communities, we require passionate volunteers skilled in grant writing and fundraising to help us secure necessary funding.
Task DescriptionPROSDOMA is also dedicated to advocating for and assisting climate migrants who have been adversely affected by environmental changes. Our mission is to raise awareness about climate migration while providing direct support to individuals and families facing displacement due to climate-related events. Volunteers will be responsible for: โข Identifying and compiling a list of relevant funding opportunities from government bodies, UN agencies, foundations, and NGOs aligned with PROSDOMAโs mission. โข Drafting customized grant and fundraising proposals or concept notes utilizing project briefs and organizational data. โข Preparing supporting documents such as budgets, cover letters, and organizational profiles. โข Collaborating closely with PROSDOMAโs Project Coordinator and participating in regular Zoom meetings to ensure effective teamwork and communication. Please note that as volunteers you will not be allowed to solicit funds from third parties, nor will you be in a position to communicate directly with third parties. However, you will assist in identifying and drafting proposals only. This project presents a unique opportunity for dedicated individuals to make a tangible difference in the lives of climate migrants while gaining valuable experience in grant writing and fundraising. Join us in taking the first step towards creating meaningful change!
