5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesIstanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and brokering partnerships. IICPSD, established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Turkey, is one of UNDP's six Global Policy Centres. It leads UNDPโ€™s global work on private sector and foundations and supports UNDPโ€™s offices all over the world. The Center focuses on four thematic areas: 1. Inclusive Business; 2. Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development; 3. Impact investing; 4. Resilience and Crisis Response. The Center also hosts four global initiatives: Business Call to Action, SDG Philanthropy Platform, Global Islamic Finance and Impact Investing Platform and Connecting Business Initiative. As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen digital capacity, the SDG AI Lab aims to introduce its team to GitHub Copilotโ€”an AI-powered coding assistant that enhances developer productivity and supports collaborative software development. This assignment will contribute to the teamโ€™s ability to use GitHub Copilot responsibly and effectively in real-world coding workflows.

ContextThe online volunteer will design and deliver a hands-on training program tailored to the needs of the SDG AI Lab, demonstrating how GitHub Copilot can be used to accelerate development tasks. The training will enable Lab members to confidently integrate Copilot into their coding practices and project workflows.

Task DescriptionIn collaboration with the SDG AI Lab team, the online volunteer will: 1. Design a short online training program with clear learning objectives and key topics (e.g., setup, use cases, best practices). 2. Prepare training materials such as slides, short demonstration videos, and quick-reference guides or cheat sheets. 3. Lead one or two live virtual training sessions (45โ€“60 minutes) with SDG AI Lab developers; sessions will be recorded for internal reuse. 4. Demonstrate real coding use cases using GitHub Copilot (e.g., writing Python scripts, building React components, editing GitHub workflows). 5. Provide guidance on integrating Copilot into existing workflows and collaborative repositories. 6. Answer participant questions and share additional best practices following the live session(s). 7. Collect quick feedback from participants to refine materials for future use. 8. Communication will be via email, MS Teams, or WhatsApp. 9. A short onboarding call will be scheduled within the first week. 10. The training can be delivered in one week or split across two sessions, depending on availability. 11. All materials should be submitted for internal review prior to delivery.
