Mission and objectivesUpdate

ContextUNFPA Somalia is supporting the undertaking of a socio-demographic survey to improve demographic data availability for policy and planning. To enhance real-time monitoring, spatial analysis, and communication of data insights, UNFPA Somalia is engaging online volunteers with technical expertise in key data areas.

Task DescriptionWork with the UNFPA and the Somali National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS) GIS Specialist to support spatial modeling and map production, and capacity building. Acquiring, cleaning, and managing spatial data (vector, raster, satellite images). Spatial Analysis: Conducting spatial modeling, clustering, hotspot analysis, and interpolation to identify patterns. Mapping & Visualization: Creating static maps, thematic maps, and interactive web maps using GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online).
