The Vanuatu Community-based Climate Resilience Project (VCCRP) is the largest community-led climate adaptation initiative in the Pacific, funded primarily by the Green Climate Fund. Operating across all six provinces, it strengthens communities’ ability to adapt to climate change through locally tailored actions, government and civil society support, and cross-sector dialogue. The project is led by the Ministry of Climate Change’s Department of Climate Change, with implementation support from key ministries and partners. Save the Children Vanuatu plays a key role in mobilizing funds and delivering activities alongside government agencies.

Where you come in:

As the GEDSI Coordinator for the Vanuatu Community-based Climate Resilience Project (VCCRP), you will play a vital role in ensuring that climate adaptation efforts are inclusive, equitable, and community-driven. Your leadership will help embed gender equity, disability and social inclusion across all aspects of the project, ensuring that vulnerable groups are not only considered but actively empowered.

By working closely with government departments, civil society, and community stakeholders, you will help to shape activities and practices that reflect the diverse needs of Vanuatu’s population. Your technical expertise and capacity-building efforts will strengthen local systems, enhance community engagement, and promote sustainable, inclusive development.

You will make an impact by:

Technical Leadership:

· Leading the development and implementation of the VCCRP Gender Action Plan, ensuring GEDSI principles are embedded across activity design, roll out, monitoring, and evaluation.

· Collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders to establish inclusive systems and indicators.

Project Implementation:

· Overseeing the Project’s Grievance Redress Mechanism and providing technical assistance to enhance GEDSI outcomes.

· Delivering training and support to staff and partners to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge, tools, skills, and resources to mobilise communities effectively and deliver an inclusive project

· Contributing to the delivery of approaches focusing on GEDSI related to climate change hazards, vulnerabilities, and impacts, with a view to improving the quality and reach of interventions across the project

Project Quality & Learning:

· Building an evidence base for GEDSI approaches and integrating lessons learned into project delivery.

· Staying informed on national, regional and global GEDSI policies and guidelines and representing the project in relevant forums.

Capacity Building:

· Developing resources and leading workshops to strengthen the capacity of staff and partners in GEDSI implementation.

Health, Safety, Security & Risk Management:

· Promoting a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols, reporting risks, and contributing to health and safety improvements.
