Finance Intern - PNG

Plan International PNG is part of Plan International, a global humanitarian and development organization committed to advancing childrenโ€™s rights and equality for girls. Operating in Papua New Guinea since 2015, the organization collaborates with communities, government agencies, and civil society to implement programs in child protection, education, health, water and sanitation (WASH), disaster risk reduction (DRR), and youth empowerment. Our mission is to ensure that all children, particularly girls, can learn, lead, decide, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

Internship Objectives

Support day-to-day financial operations. Gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, analysis, and systems. Develop practical skills in financial management tools and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Review and verify project financial documentation. Input financial data into SAP and Excel-based systems. Organize and maintain financial records for audit readiness. Assist with partner financial report reviews and monthly reconciliations. Support general ledger and bank statement reconciliations. Contribute to accounts payable/receivable processes and payment tracking. Assist in staff liquidations and month-end closing activities. Participate in financial monitoring and internal audit preparations. Support other finance-related tasks as required.Learning Outcomes Understand financial operations in donor-funded projects. Learn to apply financial controls and compliance standards. Gain proficiency in accounting systems and Excel tools. Develop skills in managing financial records and partner documentation. Eligibility Criteria Final-year student or recent graduate in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Strong interest in financial management and NGO operations. Basic accounting knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality. Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude.

Internship Terms

Duration: 3 months Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM PNG Time Location: PIPNG Office, Buka A monthly allowance will be provided
