Position: Finance/ Accounts Specialist
The Finance/Accounts Specialist supports effective financial management and compliance for FHI 360 Nepal by ensuring accurate accounting, timely reporting, reconciliations, and payments in line with FHI 360, fundersโ and local statutory and regulatory requirements. The role supports Global Financing and Administration System (GFAS) operations, and audit processes while coordinating with internal teams, partners, and external stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review vouchers/invoices submitted to FHI 360 Nepal in order to verify items claimed are in accordance with an agreement and actually delivered or performed.
- Verify and ensure accuracy of maintained checking accounts
- Develop monthly and quarterly financial reports for submission to FHI 360 Asia Pacific Regional Hub (APRH) and finders.
- Assist Finance Manager in developing country office budgets and develop report for management decision-making process.
- Ensure proper functioning of FHI 360 GFAS accounting system and coordinates with HQ & APRH as required for ongoing updates.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statement, VAT receivable and payable reconciliation and advance reconciliation for the monthly closing of GFAS.
- Ensure timely submission of GFAS report to HQ with all supporting documents.
- Prepare monthly cash flow statement.
- Ensure timely payments and reimbursements made for consultants.
- Ensure timely reimbursement for FHI 360 implementing agencies in accordance with FHI 360 and findersโ agreement.
- Maintain regular contacts with the bank, vendors and service contractors as required.
- Review travel claims for correction and verification that the claim conforms with travel authorizations and regulations regarding route, per-diem, accommodation, and use of proper transportation, determining if a travel advance was issued and computing the amount due to the traveler or FHI 360 Nepal.
- Initiates correspondence to verify data, answer queries and obtain additional information on financial transactions as required.
- Review and comments on Sub-awardee Financial Report (SFR) submitted by recipient organization and process for internal review and approval in timely manner.
- Ensure timely update of sub-agreement and amendment budget, monthly SFR and reimbursement into the web-based tracking system.
- Assist in carrying out internal and external auditing functions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor and Country Representative.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Masterโs degree in finance, accounting, commerce, business administration, or a related field with three to five years of experience; or a bachelorโs degree with over five years of experience in related field.
- Knowledge and experience with accounting and financial system.
- Proactive in managing multiple tasks, managing and working in the virtual work environment, and flexible and open to managing time working with different teams in different time zones as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, coordination and collaboration, team building and management, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.) an advantage.
- Excellent oral and written English and Nepali including documentation skills)
