Today, DRC continues to provide humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable displacement-affected families, including IDPs, returnees, and host communities in Basra, Baqubah, Jalawla, Gatoon, Baghdad, Muqdadiya, Balad, Aziz Balad, Samarra, Mosul, Duhok, Tel Afar, Baaโj, Sinjar, and Erbil.

Danish Refugee Council, one of the worldโs leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Consultant to facilitate Countering Disinformation and Misinformation in Baghdad.
Background
Under the project of Digital Peacebuilding for Social Cohesion in Iraq, the Danish Refugee Council and its partner Digital Peace Network will conduct the Peace Code Camp on the 21st of August 2025 in Baghdad; the Peace Code Camp is a digital initiative aimed at equipping a targeted group with digital skills and Artificial Intelligence tools to contribute to promote social cohesion and raise awareness on climate security. This camp integrates innovative technology into community-level peace strategies, ensuring inclusivity, creativity and local relevance.

Objectives of the Facilitator Role
During the Peace Code Camp, the selected facilitators will:
Lead interactive sessions introducing tools like fact-checking bots, AI verifiers, and media monitoring dashboards..
Build participantsโ capacities through hands-on tools and real-time demonstrations.
Facilitate discussions, group work, and problem-solving sessions in Arabic Languages.
Support the development of group-generated outputs
Roles and Responsibilities
Participate in an online pre-camp coordination meeting prior to August 21 to align objectives, tools, and facilitation flow.
Design and deliver an interactive session on digital security.
Introduce tools for trend mapping, content moderation, and ethical digital engagement.
Facilitate hands-on exercises on identifying harmful narratives and developing peace messaging.
Support participants in developing simple outputs such as peace bot ideas or campaign sketches.
Participate in the final networking and evaluation session.
Submit a 1-page post-camp summary report.
Expected Outputs
Sample digital content countering disinformation.
Enhanced participant capacity for online verification.
Group ideas for awareness campaigns or local fact-checking initiatives.
Qualifications
Background in journalism, media literacy, or digital education.
Experience using verification tools
Ability to balance technical accuracy with accessibility.
Prior experience facilitating youth or civil society workshops.
