ย Context ย Working under the overall supervision of Chief of mission and under the Direct supervision of the Head of Office ย with ย technical guidance of Media and Communication Officer as additional supervisor the Project Assistant (Public Information) will be supporting the implementation of communication strategies and plans of IOM Nigeria under the Conflict Prevention, Crisis Response and Resilience (CPCRR) Programme, led by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with Mercy Corps Netherlands (MCN) and the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD).
1.ย ย ย ย Assist in the implementation of communication strategies under the Conflict Prevention, Crisis Response and Resilience Programme.
2.ย ย ย ย Assist in developing social media content including videos, text, graphics and other media formats that informs and engages audiences and supports the visibility and awareness of the project in Katsina and Zamfara State.
3.ย ย ย ย In coordination with the Media and Communication Officer, assist in organizing communication outreach interventions tailored to the program objectives and audiences.
4.ย ย ย ย Assist in ensuring donor visibility in all public-facing communication products in line with EU and IOM branding guidelines.
5.ย ย ย ย In coordination with the Program Manager and the Media and Communication Officer, assist in implementing peace messaging and campaigns using radio, social media, and other culturally appropriate platforms.
6.ย ย ย ย Assist the Media and Communication Officer in organizing media field visits to project sites, and media training on conflict-sensitive reporting.
7.ย ย ย ย Assist in maintaining close liaison with community groups, local government authorities, CSOs, and other stakeholders to ensure due coordination of communication related activities
8.ย ย ย ย Contribute to regular programme reports, situation updates, and donor communication materials.
9.ย ย ย ย Perform any other duties assigned.

Education
- High school diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelorโs degree in Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย or related fields from an accredited institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
- A minimum of four years of work experience (for candidates holding bachelorโs degrees) in the above specified fields, preferably in the West Africa Region. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Knowledge of/interest in communication for development principles and techniques, media engagement, participatory communication, stakeholder engagement, and behaviour change communicationย
- Experience in multimedia production.ย
- Previous experience in designing and executing media campaigns, particularly for conflict-sensitive contexts.ย
- Strong portfolio of multimedia content production, including photography, videography, and storytellingย
- Strong organizational and editorial skills
- Ability to timely understand the Organizationโs structure and portfolios. ย
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds.ย
- Proven ability to produce quality work accurately and concisely according to set deadlines.ย
- ย Practical experience of how-to multi-task, prioritize and work independently. Skills
- Knowledge of/interest in social and development issues as well as general migration related issues.
- Strong computer literacy with an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Offices, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Internet Explorer, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator etc.
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, and other regional, national, and international institutions.
- Experience of working on media and/or public awareness campaigns is essential
- Experience of working on humanitarian or development issues related to migration and/or human trafficking, preferably within the United Nations Common System and the International Humanitarian Field
- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with relevant Government counterparts, civil society/NGOs, international organizations and private sector entities ย Languages
- Fluency in English (oral and written). Hausa language desirable IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.
