Overview:
FHI 360 has an exciting internship opportunity for a student interested in growing their skills within the international development sector. Under close supervision, an Intern will perform entry level professional duties which will provide the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas throughout the organization. Internship assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to a global nonprofit development organization.
Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is a five-year global project funded by the U.S. Presidentโs Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). EpiC is dedicated to achieving and maintaining HIV epidemic control and the project provides strategic technical assistance (TA) and direct service delivery (DSD) to break through barriers to 95-95-95 and promote self-reliant management of national HIV programs by improving HIV case-finding, prevention, and treatment programming. EpiC is dedicated to achieving and maintaining HIV epidemic control among at-risk adult men, women, priority populations and key populations and the project is led by FHI 360 with core partners Population Services International (PSI), Palladium Group, and Right to Care. While originally designed as a HIV program, EpiC has been modified to accept COVID-19 funding to prevent, prepare for, respond to and bolster health systems to address COVID-19 and reemergence. Currently, EpiC and its consortium members are implementing HIV activities in 30+ countries and COVID-19 activities in 45+ countries.
Anticipated Duration:
Full time from early/mid-May to mid-August, with potential to extend through the fall of 2024.
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week during EST business hours
Pay Rate: Bachelor Level $18.00/hour, Master Level: $23.00-25.00/hour PhD Level: $25.93-30.00/hour
Location: Remote or Hybrid - in Washington DC office

Anticipated Project(s) and Assignment Details:
The intern may contribute to various team or project activities under the direction of their supervisor in the following ways:
- Work with HIV Department Knowledge Management team and FHI 360 DesignLab on interactive world map --providing design and content inputs, testing functionality, etc.
- Collect, collate, and synthesize end of project achievements for ~30 closed COVID country programs to input in interactive world map
- Contribute to other knowledge management products (i.e. blogs, briefs, success stories) for EpiC's COVID, HIV, and global health security portfolios
- Conduct data entry into EpiC project Capacity Strengthening and Sustainability (CSS) dashboard and support to develop guidance documents on data entry and use of dashboard
- Collate, review, and organize CSS materials to develop into toolkits, including managing the review and editing process
- Literature reviews or data review/collation on topics related to capacity strengthening, locally led development and transition of local partners to direct funding
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail
- Able to communicate in a clear, positive manner
- Currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or university in a related field of study or within two years of graduation date. Student currently enrolled in a graduate program preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in related subject area through studies, work experience, and/or personal travel
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
- 1-2 years of experience or demonstrated interest in international development
- Prior work experience in an NGO or other professional office setting preferred
