Mission and objectivesUN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. UN Women supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide.
ContextUN Women Uganda is currently engaging with the Embassy of the Peopleโs Republic of China in Uganda and is required to submit key project documents, including a Concept Note and related attachments, in Chinese (Mandarin). The Concept Note focuses on strengthening the agency, protection, and economic empowerment of adolescent girls and young women in Uganda, in line with shared priorities on womenโs empowerment and SouthโSouth cooperation. To meet these requirements and ensure a high-quality submission, UN Women Uganda is seeking an online Volunteer to support the translation of the Concept Note and related project documents from English into Chinese (Mandarin). Through this assignment, the online Volunteer will contribute directly to UN Womenโs resource mobilization efforts and gain practical experience in translating donor-facing programme documents within a UN and international development context.
Task DescriptionThe online Volunteer will support the translation of a Concept Note and related project documents from English into Chinese (Mandarin). The Volunteer will translate one Concept Note and a limited number of related annexes. The Volunteer will ensure that all translations are accurate, clear, and consistent, while preserving the original meaning, tone, and technical content of the Concept Note. The estimated workload is expected to include the translation of approximately 40 pages over the assignment period.
