Introduction
Description of Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of the Sustainable Energy Hub, the consultant will play a key role in expanding UNDPโs geospatial intelligence capabilities for sustainable energy. The consultant will support the end-to-end development and application of SEHโs spatial data tools and services, integrating technical innovation, storytelling, and capacity-building to support data-driven decision-making and inclusive impact across the energy transition.
The consultant will contribute to the operationalization of SEHโs geospatial systems, focusing on developing the data models, backend logic, and processing workflows required to power advanced visualizations and scenario-based analytics. This includes integrating core spatial data products such as the Clean Energy Equity Index (CEEI), the High Resolution Energy Access (HREA) dataset, and other custom energy models into a scalable infrastructure that can be accessed across SEHโs digital platforms. The consultant will collaborate closely with the SEH and GeoHub team to configure spatial data services and ensure that the geospatial backend integrates seamlessly with front-end applications. A significant part of the role will involve the creation of high-impact cartographic and storytelling outputs. The consultant will transform complex geospatial data into accessible visualsโincluding maps, charts, and storymapsโfor use in SEH publications, platforms, and policy outreach. These outputs will serve both strategic communications and substantive policy dialogue, helping to visualize energy access, equity, and transition priorities in country-specific and regional contexts.
Sincerely,
UNDP/Sustainable Energy Hub
