Result of ServiceHigh-quality energy data available on ESCAPโs platforms to enable evidence-based regional dialogues Work LocationBangkok, Thailand Expected duration21May25 - 26Mar26 Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe consultant will work with the Statistics Division, in collaboration with the Energy Division, to strengthen the quality and use of statistical data that support the Asia Pacific Energy Portal and other ESCAP knowledge products. The work will improve how key datasets are integrated, updated, and shared across platforms and inform a more streamlined process for maintaining data for both the Asia Pacific Energy Portal and the SDG Gateway Data Explorer. The consultant will also oversee the annual update of priority datasets using methods agreed with the Statistics Division. a) refining the selection of indicators and ensuring that data and metadata are correctly reflected on the portal. b) review and update the list of indicators and their corresponding metadata on the Asia-Pacific Energy Portal. Identify any outdated indicators and metadata and propose additions or adjustments where necessary. c) providing a document describing the Energy indicators metadata. d) finalizing the energy data migration and technical documentation for the energy data portal. e) finalizing and refining the documentation for the Asia-Pacific Energy Portal. f) assisting in the development of the new energy portal, ensuring data accuracy. g) updating the portal with newly released energy data from UNSD. h) integrating the December 2025 UNSD energy statistics release into the Asia Pacific Energy Portal, ensuring consistent methods and metadata. i) finalizing the Energy Portal documentation, consolidating methods, workflows, and data processes to support future maintenance and use. j) updating SDG 7 indicators at national, regional, and subregional levels, applying standard methodologies and quality checks. k) completing the migration of datasets to the new Portal platform, ensuring accuracy, usability, and continuity. Qualifications/special skillsBachelorโs Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field is required. A Masterโs degree is an advantage. At least 3 years of experience in information management, data analysis, or statistics research is required. Experience working with energy-related indicators is required. Practical experience in SQL, R script, and/or Tableau is an advantage. LanguagesFluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
