Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the Education Technical Assistant position is to support the day-to-day implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Education activities in the South Area Office, with a strong focus on school-based interventions, BLP activities and field-level coordination.

โ€ข Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines, including strict adherence to the Code of Conduct and Child Safeguarding policies.
โ€ข Support the implementation of the Education programme portfolio according to approved workplans and priorities.
โ€ข Assist in organizing, implementing, and monitoring Education activities under the supervision of the Education Coordinator.
โ€ข Take responsibility for organizing assigned tasks in line with agreed priorities, timelines, and quality standards.
โ€ข Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing ideas, lessons learned, and practical solutions from field implementation.
โ€ข Prepare status updates, activity summaries, and basic reports as required by management.
โ€ข Maintain accurate and systematic filing of project and activity documentation.
โ€ข Use initiative in day-to-day problem solving within agreed procedures and responsibilities.
โ€ข Promote the rights of refugees, IDPs, returnees, and host communities in line with SPHERE and INEE Minimum Standards.
โ€ข Support coordination and communication with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Specific responsibilities
ย 

School Needs Assessments, Reporting & Vulnerability Tracking

โ€ข Support and conduct School Needs Assessments, including data collection, site visits, coordination with schools and local authorities.
โ€ข Contribute to the preparation of assessment reports.
โ€ข Maintain and update school vulnerability trackers, ensuring data accuracy and timely reporting.

BLP (Better Learning Programme) โ€“ BLP-1 / BLP-2 / BLP-T

โ€ข Support the organization of BLP activities, including:
โˆ’ Official correspondence with school administrations and local authorities
โˆ’ Preparation of cost calculations for trainings (venues, catering, travel, accommodation if required)
โˆ’ Preparation of procurement requests (PRs) and logistical arrangements
โˆ’ Coordination of registration processes, attendance lists, certificates and training documentation

โ€ข Support facilitation or co-facilitation of BLP sessions (BLP-1 / BLP-2 / BLP-T), subject to capacity and training.
โ€ข Support preparation of BLP narrative inputs and reports, particularly when acting as co-facilitator.
โ€ข Ensure availability and organization of training materials and logistics (stationery, training kits, banners, speakers, extension cords, water, shopper bags with handouts, etc.).

Cash for School & Voucher Activities

โ€ข Support implementation of Cash for School activities, including coordination with schools, documentation collection and field monitoring.
โ€ข Support voucher-based interventions, including communication, documentation and monitoring.

Monitoring, Reporting & Field Support

โ€ข Regularly travel to the field to support implementation, monitoring, and follow-up of Education activities.
โ€ข Support field-level monitoring of outputs and outcomes in line with M&E plans and donor requirements, including data collection and data entry.
โ€ข Ensure direct communication and feedback with stakeholders (school principals, teachers, students, parents, youth).
โ€ข Support implementation of the Complaints and Feedback Response Mechanism (CFRM) at field level.

Administrative & Operational Support

โ€ข Support collection, organization and basic analysis of project documentation and monitoring data.
โ€ข Support office-level procurement, including ordering stationery and basic supplies for Education activities and office needs.
โ€ข Perform any other tasks relevant to the position as requested by the line manager.

2. Competencies

Professional competencies

Generic professional competencies:

โ€ข Experience working in the education sector in Ukraine; experience in humanitarian or recovery contexts is an asset.
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Child Protection, Social Sciences or related fields.
โ€ข Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
โ€ข Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
โ€ข Willingness and ability to travel regularly to field locations.
โ€ข Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian required; working knowledge of English required.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:

โ€ข Understanding of the Ukrainian education system and Education in Emergencies context.
โ€ข Knowledge of challenges faced by conflict-affected, displaced, returnee, and host community children.
โ€ข Experience working with children, educators, or youth preferred.
โ€ข Experience liaising with local authorities and community stakeholders an asset.
โ€ข Knowledge of SPHERE and INEE Minimum Standards an asset.
