The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is seeking a pleasant and courteous driver to join its headquarters in Battaramulla, Sri Lanka.
Under the close supervision of the Transportation Officer, the Driver is responsible for transporting staff, visitors, and guests safely to assigned destinations, maintaining trip logs, and reporting any incidents or vehicle issues. The role involves notifying supervisors of challenges, sharing travel information with passengers, and adhering strictly to traffic laws and organizational safety protocols. The Driver ensures quality service delivery by conducting pre-trip safety checks, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and functionality, and keeping vehicle documentation and servicing up to date.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transport staff, visitors, and guests to assigned destinations, ensuring their comfort and safety by adhering to traffic laws and driving responsibly.
- Complete and submit a detailed logbook to the vehicle dispatcher after each trip, maintaining accurate vehicle maintenance records.
- Report any unusual conditions, incidents, or accidents involving the vehicle, including any damage, to ensure timely resolution and accountability.
- Perform basic office administration tasks, such as photocopying, scanning, messenger and filing services.
- Carry out basic logistical tasks in the organization of meetings, training and seminars, including coordination of meeting times.
- Notify the supervisor of any vehicle issues or assignment challenges to ensure timely problem-solving and task completion.
- Provide relevant travel information to passengers, such as expected travel time and road conditions, to enhance their travel experience.
- Carry out basic procurement tasks including picking up samples and quotations as requested.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws and organizational requirements, including occupational health and safety protocols (e.g., ensuring seat belts are worn by all passengers).
- Perform a pre-trip safety and roadworthiness check on the assigned vehicle to ensure it is in optimal condition before departure.
- Maintain a clean and presentable vehicle, ensuring all necessary tools and equipment are onboard and functional.
- Keep vehicle documentation (e.g., registration, fitness certificates) and driving license up to date and ensure timely servicing and maintenance with approved service providers.

This is a nationally recruited position and only Sri Lankan nationals will be considered.
